Autumn-

"Two burgers, two fries, one strawberry smoothie and a coke please." Mason told the waitress.

She noted down the order and walked away.

Mason and I sat in a window seat booth at a diner on the way out of San Marco.

"Are you sure you can eat all that? anyone would think you hadn't eaten in years." he stated

I grinned at him.

No, only two days.

I'm actually surprised I hadn't fainted yet.

You know, not counting fainting in the cop car on the way to the station.

"I'm starving, plus I haven't eaten junk food in ages." I stated casually.

"You said you would explain how this all happened, the whole story."

Great.

"I came here to get some new clothes, you know you can't find anything back home and I only have a couple of shirts and shorts." I explained.

"So how did you end up at the station?"

"I saw this top I really liked and I didn't have the money for it, so I stole it, unfortunately I got busted and taken to the station, luckily they let me off with a warning and called Dylan, but I'm not on speaking terms with him so I called you." I explained.

He looked shocked when I brought up shop lifting but other than that he seemed to buy the story.

Thank god for that.

He stopped asking questions and the waitresses placed our orders on the table.

Without another thought I attacked my food. Practically inhaling it.

Admit it, you would do the same in my situation.

No time for breathing when there's food, right?

"Who was that guy Dylan was fighting with?"

"That's another story." I stated.

"Old boyfriend?"

I shook my head.

"Family member?"

"Nope."

"Stranger?"

"Pretty much."

He sighed, "so you're not going to tell me?"

I shook my head, "explaining things are hard and confusing with a hint of irritating." I stated.

He dropped the subject after that and we drove the rest of the way mostly in silence.

Not an awkward silence, more like a we didn't need to say anything silence.

Besides i was too busy wondering what the hell Chase's problem was with Dylan.

*****

I looked down at my phone, 12 missed calls, 9 text messages, 7 voicemail.

With a deep sigh I clicked on the first voice message.

"Hi it's Ryder, I can explain." i ended the voice message uninterested and clicked on the next one.

"It's Dylan, come home, we miss you.'"

Maybe later.

"Where did you disappear to? call me when you get this." Mason's worried voice spoke through the phone.
