Chapter Forty-Two

Ryder-

"What are you doing?!" Chloe screamed at me as i hastily packed a bag.

"Im getting Autumn back!" I yelled back.

"You're acting crazy!"

"You cant stop me!"

"Ryder, please, just think about what you're doing, leave her to move on, you were just a chapter in her life, and now shes moved on so you should too." She pleaded.

"Maybe I'm being insane, but I'm going to try." I stated defiantly.

There's no reason why she couldn't have her family and me, us, everyone.

"Ryder, i don't want to see you get hurt."

"Whats the worse that could happen?!" i asked optimistically.

"Oh, i don't know, you get turned down, become an emotional wreck, get depression, and eventually kill yourself!"

I raised a wary eyebrow, "you should go see a councilor about that."

"Im serious!" She half yelled half laughed

"Thats never going to happen!" I reassured her zipping up the bag and throwing it over one shoulder.

"You don't know that!" She huffed.

I slowly walked over to her and put my hands on her shoulders.

"I'll only be two days, three at the most." I assured her.

She sighed angrily and turned away.

"Do what you want then Evans, it seems like you're going to anyway."

I gave her a half-hearted smile, " You, Chase and Tom are in charge, don't let anything too dramatic happen while I'm gone yeah?"

She smiled back, "fine, but don't come crying to me when everything i just said happens"

"No promises." I winked.

She rolled her eyes and i took a couple of seconds for a hug before dashing for the stairs, how hard could it be to find her anyway.

I drove up to a two story white wooden house, i had already been to three houses and there was no sign of Autumn or Andrew.

Knocking on the door after a few minutes of assuring myself it will be fine.

A familiar face opened the door but not one i was expecting, "Shadow?"

"Ryder?"

"What are you doing here?" i asked.

"What are you doing here?"

"I asked you first." i stated.

"Andrew adopted me." she stated in monotone.

"Oh, well, congratulations?" I questioned, because the sound of her voice sounded anything but cheerful, but thats Shadow i guess.

"So what are you doing here?" She sounded bored.

"Im here for Autumn."

She rolled her eyes at me.

"Well you can turn around and go back to that shit town of yours because she doesn't want to see you." Shadow said finally and went to shut the door.

A hand shot out to stop the door before it could slam on my face.

When it reopened Autumn was standing in front of me.

I hadn't seen her in a while, i couldn't help my automatic smile, even though she had a blank look on her face due to my reappearance, but i couldn't care less.
