Thirty-Six:- Croc Under Still Waters

"What the hell are you doing here?" The question was asked through gritted teeth with the tightest fake smile one has ever seen.

Nathan used his entire being to not make a scene at the coffee shop or get fuming red at a customer, even if it's Jadrianne—the reason he's getting irked and confused.

He couldn't believe she followed him to the coffee shop after school. At first, he thought she was just walking to the bus stop and only snapped out of it the minute she sat down at one of the tables by the window; in the far corner at that.

Nathan's grip on his notepad tightened and shook from his suppressed irritation. The girl before him grinned and remained nonchalant at her boyfriend's annoyed reaction. Regardless of how many times she's seen it or triggered it, it never ceases to amaze her.

Jadrianne rested her elbows on the table as she leaned her cheek on her fists. "I'd like to order now, Nate~."

Killing is a crime. Killing is a crime. Killing is a crime. He chanted in his head as he forcibly grabbed his pen from his pocket and opened his notepad.

Through gritted teeth, he politely asked, "What. Would. You. Like. To. Have. Miss?"

The coy girl smirked at him without looking at the menu. "Can I have the non-dairy Honey Almodmilk Cold Brew?"

The tall brunet wanted to knock her forehead. "I'm sorry, miss. We may be called 'Roasters Coffee Shop, but we don't sell fancy named drinks like that. If we did, we'd be called, 'Starbucks'."

The male gave up and closed his notepad before turning around. "Whatever, I'll get you our recommended one."

Jadrianne chuckled as she watched his back while he walks and enters the kitchen. She leaned back against her chair and looked out the window; her eyes watched as people passed the café. Her carefree expression dissolved into a frown as her mind clouded.

The busy sounds of the café drowned out. It's as though a dark cloud hovered over her and all she could hear was the words from last night.

"You think you're free just because you were not in our sight? Don't forget, you can't run away from responsibilities."

Crossing her arms as she stared at the small flowers on her table. They were small but their beauty still speaks. She chuckled, despite the lack of humour in her circumstance. "What a reunion," she mumbled.

Meanwhile, Nathan, who was still standing by the staff door, saw the dark look on Jadrianne's face. He knew there was something off about her since he found her on the rooftop.

He clicked his tongue as he watched her. "If she's gonna stay tight-lipped then she's pissing me off."

An arm slung over his shoulder and a fast ruffled against his head. "You're gonna burn holes into her if you keep staring."

"Argh! Get off!" Nathan struggled under Bladen's grasp. Soon enough, he was free, but Bladen only snickered at his junior.

"Hey! Don't tell me that date was a bust after all that effort?" Bladen flicked Nathan's forehead, earning a hiss of pain from him.

Dashawn came into the staff room after taking a customer's order and overheard the conversation between the two waiters. "How cruel of him. He didn't even properly thank us or even let us know how it went!"

Nathan glared at the older colleagues and stomped away to their storage of cups. It has only been a day since he didn't update them of his progress actually achieved the main outcome. As much as he was thankful, he refused to say a word to his workmates. He knew what would happen if he did.
