Forty-Three:- Wishing to Nope Out of This
She's gone. He took her. I can't see her.
That thought occupied Nathan's head ever since the phone call with her mysterious brother. Even though he knew she'd be back at the end of the weekend, but Kayne hit a nerve within him.
Nathan didn't realise he was at the front door of the coffee shop until Blake literally flicked his forehead.
"Dude, don't stare at the door or it'll melt," Bladen scolded as his voice laced with sarcasm.
Nathan didn't react much despite the throbbing pain. He only nodded and lightly rubbed the red spot on his forehead. Bladen sensed something was off about the younger one as he dragged his feet to enter the shop.
"What the hell got his head in his panties?" He wondered.
Despite the shop being busy throughout the evening until night, it didn't go unnoticed by the Roasters Coffee Shop's staff towards Nathan's strange behaviours at work.
•Nathan incidents at work•
"Nate, no! The kitchen cloths are gonna catch on fire!"
"Argh! Don't carry all those dishes at once, hermano!"
"Watch out! You're gonna hit-!"
•Back to the present•
The guys chuckled humourlessly after remembering the mishaps of near disasters. However, they knew Nathan wasn't in his best shape. It was quite worrisome.
The worries are also leaning towards avoiding any more dishes facing near-crashes.
"Hey, dude," Emet, the reliable one whom Nathan respected him as he was, spoke as he placed a hand on the younger's shoulder. "You okay? You've been out of it the whole evening."
The brunet blankly stared at the taller male. "Huh? What?" He then looked out the window. "Oh, it's night." The lack of emotion shown from the younger one made the rest render speechless.
"I think he's broken," Dashawn whispered as he leaned towards Manager Enrique.
"Aah!" The manager hissed at Dashawn as if to hush him from Nathan hearing. "Ay chico! I think it's time you head back home, hm?" Enrique patted the brunet's shoulder then pushed him towards the changing room.
The rest of the guys found it odd that Nathan didn't even object to being told to go home. Usually, he'd be the one to refuse to finish up first and stayed a little longer to help in cleaning up the café.
They all watched as the emotionless teen walks out the door. Bladen was the first to speak, "ARGH! HE'S PISSING ME OFF!"
Dashawn and Emet sighed, worried for their younger colleague. "Nathan's never been normal, but something bad must've happened for him to act so out of it."
Bladen clicked his tongue. "I bet it's puberty-Ack!"
"I've never seen him so out of it before." Manager Enrique lifted his fist from the angry male's head. "Something must've happened."
The walk back home felt so far away for Nathan. Usually, he'd take the bus but after what happened today, he didn't even spare a glance at the bus stop. The neutral-expression male continued to drag his feet along the pavement, walking past shops and people without a care.
