Fifteen:- Wise Words Wednesday
Nathan only had a few hours of shift at the coffee shop so he could go back home a little early than he would usually be. "Good work, everyone!" Manager Enrique sang as he stood beside Nathan who was wiping the kitchen counters. "Hard work as always, ay, Nate?" Enrique stated as he stretched making his body pop with cracks.
The younger only nodded as he washed the cloth before hanging it to dry. Manager Enrique watched over him with content as he plopped on the seat nearby the lounge room. "Ah~ You're really a diligent guy, niño!" Enrique complimented as he undid a few buttons from his shirt.
Raising a questioning look at his boss, "Huh?" Manager Enrique only chuckled. "I bet you help out a lot at school too with your friends!" The elder fanboyed over imagining how an exaggeratingly small Nate making friends at school.
Nathan stopped in his tracks at those words. Yeah . . . diligently threaten anyone who comes near me. "Ah ha~. Right." Nathan mumbled as he busied himself walking towards the lockers. "I . . . don't really have . . . f-friends." Nathan's response faded as he guiltily looks away from Enrique. "HAAH??!!"
"Whoa, no way!" Bladen spoke as he popped out from the lounge room. "You were there?!" Nathan exclaimed in panic. "Don't change the topic, chico! What are you saying?!" That's when Enrique went into a Spanish rambling which the employees were quite used to the habit over the years.
"That's besides the point, boss! Our flashy waiter is an anti-social caterpillar!" Bladen revealed with an all-too prideful tone. This bastard really loves riling me up at my downfalls. Nathan threw the wet cloth he hung up at the college guy.
Manager Enrique grabbed the younger by his arms and shook him, "How are you even surviving, chico?! Who do you even talk to during free moments?!-"
"Pretty sure it's free period-."
"Don't remind me of my age, el sabiondo," Enrique's eyes turned into slits as Bladen looked away so carefree.
With a heavy sigh, Enrique knew the high school boy in front of him; who was weirdly taller than him; still had much to learn about life. "You should know something interesting about people, hermano," Manager Enrique told.
"Everyone in this world is like an avatar in a video game. We all have our own styles and personalities as we grow in real life." Enrique smiled as he stares into space with a smile whilst Nathan patiently listens to his boss. "The difference is that, in video games, we choose who we want to be, look like and even choose who we want in our guilds."
With a friendly pat and smile, Enrique concludes, "That's why niño, just like your amiga who just burst in to save you is the example of how fun your monochrome life once it becomes colourful when you let even a few people walk through the crack of your doors and one day, you may save them too."

Walking back home, Nathan's mind was clouded with thoughts. Especially Manager Enrique's words from before. Am I . . . really missing something here? The grumpy teen thought as he kicked a pebble as he was nearing his house.
•Flashback•
Jadrianne startled him by bending down to get close to his face with a smirk. "It wouldn't hurt if you get to know him and hear what he has to say." She suggested as she emphasized the word 'you'.
