Seven:- Love Is A Crappy Thing

"Gah! Stupid day." Nathan grumbled as he roughly opened his locker with a loud BAM. Unexpectedly, a letter fell out of it. Nathan furrowed his eyebrows in confusion and bent down to pick it up. He read the writing on the letter.

To: Nathan Howland.

There was a heart that drawn next to the writing. The hell is this? Kindergarten? He thought as he sighed exhaustedly and opened the envelope.

Dear, Nathan.

I know that you don't really have any interest in girls but I don't think so. I think that you're really hot and deserve more credit and you deserve a hot girl by your side, and I believe that it's me. I wanna see you after school at the back of the school. I'll be waiting for you. (ᵔᴥᵔ)

Love, Bella.

A gloomy atmosphere had fallen upon him. Even the students who were passing by had chills down their backs when they looked at him.

Seriously . . . I swear girls these days have their heads up too high in the clouds. I can't keep up. He thought. Sighing, he folded the letter back inside the envelope and stuffed it in his bag.

Why do I have to go through this? He thought. First, he had not heard a word from Jadrianne (which was relieving, for him) then found her leering at him like an annoying crow from up high. Second, two extra weirdos came up to him to be friends which scared him for the moment. It has taken a quarter of Nathan's energy to comprehend the events.

Ugh! Why am I even thinking about them? Waste of time. He shook his head.

Now, he had to deal with another damn confession. Nathan always felt that rejecting girls was starting to be a routine of his life ever since he entered Skylar High. Before that, most girls were shy and just watched him from afar. Plus, he was slightly nicer and less strict back in his middle school days.

That side of him lasted until his mother left his family and him without any explanation. His mother's absence was also one of the reasons he decided to get a part-time job and hate girls on a daily basis. He wanted to help his family so they wouldn't have to worry when buying their necessities at home while his father works hard.

Shaking his head, Nathan pushed the thought of his mother aside and decided to focus on the letter in his hand. Nathan knew if he doesn't give an answer, they'd just hang around him like bats.

He decided to meet the girl after school only to reject her and give her the envelope. He didn't want a reminder of the girl he rejected. It was too heavy of a burden.

After Class

After prying himself from the eyes of girls who were gawking at him all day, he pushed through the doors of the rooftop. Nathan hummed in satisfaction when he finally found peace and quiet at his usual hideout. Even though he was fine with the presence of the guys at the coffee shop, he just couldn't stand being huddled around in crowds of hormonal teens.

He was only 17 and yet he acts and thinks as though he's grumpy and concerned over loans and mortgages. It was an amazing fact for the guys at the coffee shop and his dad too. Unknowingly to Nathan, it was a charm to them too.

Sitting down comfortably against the wall of the ledge, he swung his bag and placed it beside him on the table. He took out his book and opened the page where he left off. He let out a breath to relax before reading the page. Although, it was a little too soon for him.
