(Y/N)'s P.O.V.
"...are you sure that you're okay to go out today, sweetie?"
As I ate another spoonful of cereal, I looked over to my mother, who was staring at me with a concerned frown as she waited for her microwavable breakfast to finish heating up; breakfast was the only meal out of the recommended three that wasn't traditionally cooked in my family, since each of us left the house in the morning at different times, and it was a pain for anyone to wake up early and go straight to the kitchen to make anything more complicated than jam-covered toast.
I simply nodded towards my mother, before raising an eyebrow in question.
"Well, it's just..." My mother trailed off for a moment as she leaned against the counter. "...when you came home after the sports festival, you seemed so... tired. You hardly ate anything before jumping in the shower and then heading straight to bed. Normally, you love staying up late when you don't have school the next day!"
As I swallowed my current spoonful of cereal, I tried letting out a short laugh. "W-well, the festival was... exhausting."
"I... I understand that, but-" As the microwave went off, my mother turned to take out her microwavable breakfast. "-you spent all of yesterday either sleeping or eating ice cream and drinking water. You normally only do that when sick."
Trying to prevent myself from choking on the recent spoonful of cereal I just put in my mouth, I let out a hum.
Everything that my mother was saying was completely true; I did spend most of my time yesterday in my room asleep, only ever coming out to get a bowl of ice-cold ice cream or a cold glass of water, ice cubes included. I mean, I also wrote a lot in my Quirk journal too, adding stuff to the section about overusing Charm! Basically, using a lot without dealing with the side-effects in a timely manner (such as in the following hour or two), as well as not tending to them correctly (not napping when tired, failing to lower my body temperature effectively), wears my body out, making it need a longer period of rest...
As it turns out, that long period of rest could be as long as a full day, which was both interesting and very annoying for me to find out; it meant that I was too tired and uncomfortable to enjoy a day off of school, but I did now know that I really shouldn't do things impulsively, like impromptu "check-ins" on my classmates.
Especially not after having used a lot of my energy earlier in the day. Maybe I should also mark down the times of when I emit larger doses of Charm, whether intentionally or because of nerves... it might help to define what makes me nervous!
Between writing down notes, I had also made the plans with (G/N) for hanging out, which would be happening today.
I would have loved to do it yesterday, but, since I had trouble functioning like a normal person, it was better to wait.
The foreign girl was disappointed that Shinso's "friend-making opportunity" couldn't happen immediately, but was more than understanding that I was "busy" yesterday. And her texts about "being able to perfect my plan" isn't a sign for alarm! No, they couldn't be! ...geez, what's going to happen today?
(F/N) was the only one to understand my real predicament when I called him on his home's phone, which was the only phone he could really use because it had physical buttons with raised numbers.
Since I said that I needed to rest, still feeling tired despite a good night's rest and warmer than what was considered to be "normal", he told me that he would just call his parents' agency and have one of their sidekicks pick him up to bring him over to the agency, so he could hang out there; that was something that he hadn't done since early elementary school, back when the both of us were still too young to walk home by ourselves.
