We travel for one more day before we are greeted by the border patrol of the Blue River Pack. Luckily they recognize us, or me, instantly so no on had to get hurt.
Now we are standing in Lincoln's new house, and awaiting the new Beta's presence to discuss my request.
Just as I'm about to request going to retrieve him myself the door opens and in walks a young man.
It takes me a second, but I realize that the man is one of the one who was running from Jonathan that passed through our clearing.
Its one of the wolves Jonathan was casing.
Noah gives a slight nod, letting me know he recognizes him too. The young man sees Lincoln his Alpha first before landing on us.
His eyes widen when he sees us, so I know he remembers too.
"But... How did you escape? Where's the vampire?" He stutters out as he rushes the question. I don't recognize him from my earlier visit to this pack, so I'm guessing he was of no importance before he became Beta.
"He was a hybrid, and he is in the ground on the edge of the clearing." I say with little trace of emotion. My tone is flat, and I try not to think about it.
His eyes widen further, but he remains silent after a look from the Alpha.
Lincoln clears his throat before speaking.
"What is it you came to see me about Silver?" His time is neutral but I can tell he's curious.
"You once said that if I never needed help, you would be there. Well I am here to request for that help." His eyes widen fractionally, but I continue. "My whole pack was recently slaughtered, and the pack responsible is on the hunt for me, so that they become even more powerful than they already are." I pause but as I open my mouth to continue, Noah's deep voice speaks instead.
"My pack came for Silver because we have a poison in us that when it penetrates the skin kills painfully. Silvers blood can stop the death." He pauses, an by the guilty look in his eye I know he about to say something even I don't know. "My pack plans to use her blood as a bargaining chip. They plan to target the mates of the Alphas in the various packs, and offer her blood to save their loved ones in exchange for the title of Alpha of that pack." He looks in my eye guiltily before dropping his gaze.
I'm shocked. I'm not necessarily mad, but I'm confused on why he hasn't told me this before.
Noah
He doesn't look at me.
Noah!
His head finally snaps up and he turns in my direction.
I'm not mad. But why didn't you tell me?
He looks relieved but still worried. So I brace myself for his answer.

Because.... It was my idea.
