"I can't believe you got 3 boxes of twinkies!" Noah says before stepping through the door.
I laugh before shutting door behind us.
"Well of course I did, twinkies are a-mazing!" I really kind of have an addiction to frozen twinkies. Call me weird, but hey.
So now an hour and a half later of 'shopping', our packs are full of food, toiletries, extra clothes, and small trinkets.
"Good, now that you are don I will point you in the right direction and send you off." Lincoln's voice greets us the same time the afternoon sun does. I squint as my eyes readjust to the natural light, since the light went out on us an hour into the shopping. But luckily werewolves can almost see normally in the dark, so we made do.
"Sounds good, and Lincoln, I really do believe you will be a good Alpha. But will you promise me that if my pack ever is in need I help, you will help?" I thought I would make the best of the situation at hand and at least get reassurance.
"You have my word." He sticks his hand out and I shake it, a true oath. "Now, you best be on your way the night is coming quick.Where were you headed."
"Well actually we were coming to request an audience with your pack. You see, we heard rumors that an old wok with special abilities came through here last year. And we were hoping you could tell us something about her wear abouts." when I finish speaking I glance up to see the sun slipping even farther toward the trees.
"Yes we did, but how did you know?" I pause before answering, how many people do we want to let know of this? I glance at Noah who gives a shrug 'your choice'. I look back at Lincoln, his easy stance and happy eyes, and all his actions so far has led me to believe he is trustworthy.
I let out a breath before telling him everything. From my mom's pregnancy to my training,
'so thats why I can't smell you' Lincoln mumbles after the part about my abilities.
The Cold Peak Pack's trespassing and my fight with their Alpha. I told him about their bite and what happened to Jonathan, and then to how I tried to help him. When I finish my story with us leaving on our trip and coming here, Lincoln's face is priceless, a mix of awe, fright and disbelief. The fright at first was of me and my fighting, but it turned to Noah when he learned of his bites poison.
"Did you bite one of my pack?"
"No, I was hoping they would just leave me alone, but beiges I could say anything they knocked me out, multiple times." Noah rubs the knot on his head absentmindedly.
A sigh escapes Lincoln before he turns back to me.
"Ok well, the 'wanderer' as you called her, came through here sometime last fall and healed one of our pack members, who was practically dismembered. There had been a bloody fight with a neighboring pack when their new Alpha came to power, and our Luna was gravely injured." He pauses as a shiver rolls down his spine, before clearing his throat and starting again. "A wolf had cut her across the stomach so deep it had punctured most of her organs, and broke her spine. She was basically torn in two. Well, we managed to get her back to the pack village, but the healers were useless there was just to much damage. After a couple hours when she was about to die, the old wolf came to us. Now usually the Alpha didn't tolerate rogues but when she said she could heal his mate, he would have kissed the ground before her. So she healed her and went on her way after a day, but not before saying she was heading north to some mountain pass were a group of rogues lived. She said she was go into stay there through the minted because she loved the snow. That's all I know." Lincoln had teared up at the part about his previous Luna, and I got a feeling something had happened after she was healed, especially since she wash at the meeting.
Now with this new information me and Noah could be on our way.
"Thank you Lincoln for all of your help now we will be on our way." I put a hand on his shoulder before turning around towards Noah and nodding to the woods. When he gets the message he slings his pack over his shoulder and reaches his hand for mine. I mirror his actions and lace my hand through his.
I take a deep breathe before heading towards the dark forest to the north of the camp village.
"By Silver. By Noah." I hear Lincoln call just before we entered the shadows of the trees. Instantly the air temperature drops, but werewolves are so hot blooded we rarely get cold. I squeeze Noah's hand as we make our way over the tangle of roots and around the undergrowth sprouting up.
Once we make it out of even werewolf ear shot from the pack village, I tug on Noah's hand and he turns to face me.
"II've heard of this mountain Pass, the other sides called Rogue Valley. But that's good an bad. Good because I know how to get there. Bad because it is the home of most of the countries rogue population, and lets just say some are pretty nasty." I let go of Noah's hand and plop down cross cross in front of him, and after a small chuckle he joins me.
"Well...... at least we know how to get there, and I got you to fight, what do I have to worry about." He gives a playful shrug and another lopsided grin that makes my heart skip a beat. Why does he have to be so perfect.?.
"That is true, I could just protect you until we find her." Noah's face suddenly pales.
"No! Absolutely not! I was just kidding. there is no way I'm going to let my mate just go in there and risk he hide for me when I can fight as well . I dot care how good a fighter you are, I'm not letting somebody I love go in there and fight for me. Especially you!" He jumped to his feet during his rant and is now all tensed like he's ready for a fight. And usually here would have been one but now I'm to caught on his words.
"You love me?" My voice is a whisper and my eyes stare up into his with shock.
"Oh Silver." He gently grabs my arms and pulls me up, I am still limp with shock. "I love you more than you can know. I love your laugh, I love your smile, I love your ticklishness, I love your bravery, I love your attitude, I love your eyes, I love you hair, god! I love you!" I stare at him in shock before it finally hit me with a punch. I'm loved.
I had always known I would find a mate someday, but now that he is here in the flesh, and telling me the three words I've always wanted to hear, I'm filled with such warmth and joy I could cry. And apparently I do. I feel Noah's hands cup my face, and his thumb gently wipe away a stray tear that escapes my eye.
He leans his forehead against mine and looks into my eyes.
"I love you." He whispers before gently pressing his lips to mine. This kiss is so soft and loving I melt inside and out. It is so full of love I almost choke and so full of happiness I swear the sun is coming up. He pulls back slowly and wraps me into his arms in a tight embrace. I nuzzle my face into the crook of his neck and inhale his pine and orange scent, and I shiver. After all the years I my life, all the people I've met, all the places I've been, I've never been happier than I am at this moment.
"I love you." I whisper into his warm neck, and he pulls me tighter to him. And I know I'm right where I belong.
