I stifle the growl that wants to rip from my throat. I want nothing more that to rip the throats out of the me that hurt my mate, but by the sounds of approaching footsteps it sounds like their whole pack is coming. And even though I could defeat a large group of them they would defeat me with sheer numbers. My wolf growls at the thought of not being able to help our mate, we are not used to being if no help.
Just as I read the steps a large group of men wolves break out from the tree line at runs and converge int he middle around the three assholes who dared to hurt my mate. Many congrats at passed to the men, who take it all in with happy smiles on their faces.
The words suddenly drop away to a dead silence when a large man with an air of authority enters the clearing, and I can instantly tell he is their alpha. He walks through the throng of people, who part like the Red Sea for Moses. He finally stops in front of the three men who now have fear on their faces.
"Where is the girl?" The alpha's voice is like a rockslide, rock on rock grating out. After a silent moment of fear, the middle man finally takes a deep breath and answers.
"We- we don't know sir." He says it so fast the words would have been one if not for the man's frightened stuttering.
"And why is that?" The Alpha answers in a tone a cold as ice and eerily calm. It would have been less intimidating if he yelled.
"She was ahead of him sir, and- um- we couldn't catch her trail, she has no scent." This time it is the left most man who answers his voice only wavering slightly. The alpha's face looks shocked but he quickly wipes it blank again.
"I see." Is all he says before turning around and walking towards the woods just to my left. He motions over his shoulder and his pack follows him, the three men with Noah in front. I watch from my perch as the herd of people slowly drain front the clearing until it is empty, but I don't dad move until their voices are just a whisper. I double check before dropping silently to the ground in a crouch before standing up and strip ring after the pack. I easily track the pack and gain on them in minutes. When I can hear their conversations clearly without really focusing, I dive behind a tree and continue like that, darting from tree to tree tailing the pack. Even without my excellent tracking skills I would have been able to find them, a blind man could. They made no move to cover their tracks if quiet their voices, I mean it would be impossible not to find them.
It hits me a second before he does.
I realize its a trap a second before the large man, but its enough. I jump away from his large from an grab his arm using his momentum to flip him onto his back with enough force to knock the air from his now cracked ribs. His breath is strained as the air painful enters and leaves his lungs.
I spin on my heel to come face to face with another bull of a man. He starts to lunge towards me, but I'm in no mood to draw out the fight so I spring over his head in a flip, and when I'm over his head I bring my cupped hands down on his ears, busting his eardrums. I land behind him, but I still hear him let out a loud cry before a heavy thump following. I bend my knees slightly to prepare for an attack. I turn my stormy gaze back towards the rest of the pack to see wide eyes and open mouths. Apparently they were pretty confident with those to men that I took out like flies. I take a light step forward and the while of the crowd shuffles backwards slightly. Honestly at the moment I could be through half of them in a matter of minutes with the rage boiling through my veins. I straighten my legs and stride forward, a wicked smile grows on my face as the group backpeddles as fast as they can while still facing me. I let out a dry laugh their terrified eyes.
I mean I'm just one girl right? What's so scary about that? It's not like I could hurt all those big men? Right?
Three men step away from the group towards me. And I answer the last question.
Wrong.
