Esther loves her family even with their flaws. Her husband has a temper that only triggers when Niklaus or Kol is involved. Specially Niklaus. After the loss of her sister, Finn became distant. Elijah is calm and level-headed. Always looking after the younger ones. Niklaus try hard to get attention from Mikael which he gets but not like how he wants. Esther loves him the most because of her husband's treatment of him. Rebekah is their only daughter and the apple of their eyes. Kol is his own person. Reckless and always in trouble. The only time he spends with them is Dinner time. Henrik their youngest is the purest of them all. Curious about nature and life.
This is one of the few days Esther loved. They all gathered around after lunch. Doing nothing but relaxing. She wants her days to be like this. But it's only a wish. Esther knew something went wrong when Kol the unstoppable stopped talking. He was discussing magic with Henrik. Esther looked at him to see him in a frenzy.
"Kol." Henrik shook him and Kol jumped in surprise. He looked at everyone wide eyed and surprised before running off towards the jungle. They were too surprised by the act no one acted.
Kol didn't stop running until he reached his safe spot. It was the middle of nowhere which means people rarely come there. "It really did work." Kol said to himself before he lost consciousness.
Ayana the best friend of Esther and a powerful witch was on her way to collect berries when he saw a man lying on the ground. Ayana didn't recognize him. So, he might be new to town or a visitor.
Esther was pacing. It's almost sundown and Kol hasn't returned. Elijah and Mikael came without him and after some time Finn and Niklaus came with the same answer. "He is in the forest. I can feel it." Esther sobbed. "We searched the whole area, Esther." Mikael said. "Mother, this might be a joke he played on us." Finn said. "I don't care. I want my son." Mikael nodded and promised to look for him.
"No need for such promises Father. You wouldn't care even if I got eaten by the wolves." It's like he appeared out of thin air. Mikael didn't know how to react to what Kol said. His voice was hard as stone and so was his expression. But it all melts down when Henrik jumps on him. Kol steadied himself and hugged Henrik tightly. Now his eyes were full of tears. Rebekah joined the hug.
"Where were you?" Rebekah asked. "Collecting my thoughts." The next moment Kol was on the ground screaming in pain. Esther who was shocked by her son's behaviour rushed to his side. She tried touching him but was pushed away by an unknown force. "He tapped into his magic." Esther didn't know why she was scared. But the simple brush against Kol's hand made her shiver in fear. It was like she touched the dead.
"He is out of control Esther." Mikael said worriedly when the wind became strong. The fire lit to cook started to grow and the ground started to tremble.
Not far away Ayana was having the same problem with her guest. She knew she needed Esther but for some reason, she was sure Esther would be busy too. The young adult was running hot on a fever which could be the reason why his magic is acting out. But his magic is too powerful for even Ayana to control him. It was when a concerned Niklaus came running in.
