Caroline was alone in her private room. Her mom had to go on emergency duty. Rather than sleeping Caroline spent her time revising her lessons and preparing for the exams. She has completed all her assignments and homework for college. She has been excused from school.
She doesn't remember closing her eyes but after a blink someone was standing beside her. Caroline sighed in relief when she saw Elena smiling at her. But then she started to feel something. A dark aura around Elena as she took a pillow.
"Who are you?" Caroline was ready to attack. The Elena lookalike looked at her impressed. "Game on."
"What..." Before Caroline could finish her sentence, she blacked out. Caroline remembers the cold fingers on her neck. The nails digging in as the lookalike snapped her neck. She saw the happiness in her eyes to kill her.
She doesn't remember how long she was out. But when she woke up, Caroline could feel the quietness surrounding her. Her eyes were blurred. A constant hunger made her frustrated and angry. Light whispers in the quietness.
"Meditate. Always in distress meditate." The voice of her therapist rang in Caroline's mind. So, that's what she did. She meditated. Cleared her thoughts and the memories started to fade in. She was killed with vampire blood.
Caroline doesn't know who gave her vampire blood. In the night of accident which was four days ago she was given vampire blood to heal. Maybe by the Salvatores. But that will be out of her system by now. It must be someone related to Elena's lookalike.
She quickly got up. She has hours to decide. But the smell of blood broke her thoughts. Without her will, she walked out of the room. Walking into the cold storage room she automatically went to the B+ blood. Caroline hesitated but, in the end, took a blood bag and ran out of the room. Coming back to her room she locked herself in the bathroom.
Washing her face, she looked in the mirror. She looks pale. And the blood bag looks tempting.
"What should I do? I don't want to be a vampire. But I don't want to die. I don't want to lose my magic." She started to panic.
"Drink the blood." Caroline let out a scream hearing her own voice.
Looking around the bathroom her eyes stopped in the mirror. Her reflections look different. Young but looks old. Maybe because of the makeup and short hairstyle.
"What is this?" Caroline calmed down thinking this might be some kind of magic.
"Well, I am you. From the future of a different timeline. I was to merge with you when you become a vampire." The reflection Caroline told.
"I would say dimension and time travel doesn't make sense if I wasn't a witch." Caroline whispered more to herself nonetheless earning a chuckle from the mirror her. "So, why haven't we merged?" Caroline asked. She knows she should be freaking out. But being a witch nothing magical freaks her out now.
