Syracuse, New York
I pulled the helmet from my head as I looked up at the weather beaten house that once belonged to the house workers of the spring house toward the east side of the town.
I looked around as the once paved road was overgrown and some of the trees had fallen across the road.
I put my helmet on the bike as I walked through the over grown sidewalk up to the house.
I felt the gun in the back of my waist band weighing heavy as I went into the house.
I pushed open the loud door that once use to remain open when I was growing up and spending much of my childhood in the kitchen of this house.
I looked up at the soaring landing above me that I once watched my brother tie bed sheets from and try to climb down.
“Bring back memories of our childhood?”
I glanced back as Cassie walked out of the living room with Natalie beside her. “You didn’t have to threaten her life.”
Natalie glared back at Cassie, “I told you that you didn’t have to freak everyone out with me.”
Cassie sighed back at her, “Our lives have been signed do you don’t understand that?”
Natalie glanced back at me, “I think you two should talk.”
I watched as Natalie walked out of the house but Cassie went back into the living room. “I don’t get how you are still alive.”
Cassie smiled back at me, “I don’t think you knew how much I was awake that night.”
“What happened that night Cassie, I mean I just remember you going out with that guy and then you getting shot.”
Cassie glanced back at me as the moon was the only thing casting light into the room. “He wasn’t meant to kill me that was the pain that I shouldn’t be killed but that I was to look dead.”
I narrowed my eyes back at her.
“While we were growing up, we saw a lot of things. I mean we knew a lot of things that we shouldn’t have. I mean the debt, that shouldn’t be something that children of 7 and 8 know about or watched their father’s carry out.”
I glanced up at her.
“I learned that something was going to happen when we turned 25. When each royal family child turned 25 something was going to turn our families upside down.”
I narrowed my eyes back at her, “I'm the oldest out of us, and you are talking about me.”
“That in 2 years everything will be ruined, The Red Zone will be controlling the town. Jordana, I didn’t think it was true until I saw how my father acted with your father.”
I watched as Cassie moved around in the dark.
“Our families signed a pact that would save them all from this but now it will come to a head when one of us turns 25.”
