40. No Words Can Comfort Me

Vancouver, Canada

                The next morning, Jared walked out of the bathroom to see Genevieve holding her side. “Are you ok?”

                “I'm just thinking of what is to come of us.”

                “What are you talking about?” Jared looked back at her confused.

                “I mean with our love and our children. I can't walk away from you. I don’t want to keep fighting for you.”

                Jared cracked a smile as he kissed her on the forehead, “I love you and you won't have to fight for me no more. You have me Genevieve.”

                Genevieve smiled back at him, “Tomorrow we leave for Austin and Jared, you have to promise me that this life is over. That this is all over with.”

                “I will never step back toward them. With this life ending means that our life can begin.”

                Genevieve flashed a smile back at him when they heard the front doors slam shut.

                Jared glanced down at Genevieve, “They must be back.”

                Genevieve nodded her head back at him, “Jared, I don’t wanna go down there and see them. I will stay up here with the children and pack. We need to leave as soon as possible.”

                Jared forced a smile as he went out of the room.

                Downstairs in the main living room, Jensen looked at me as I held onto my side.

                Jared walked down the back steps with a smile on his lips, “You are back ok.”

                I glanced up at him, “I am but I can't say the same about Cassie or Natalie.”

                Aurelia glanced back at me with a worried look on her face.

                “What happened to them?” Boone blurted out as he walked into the room. “Cassie said that she would hand Natalie over, what happened?”

                Graham shook his head, “Knock it off Boone, this isn't your fight.”

                I held onto my side as Jensen walked over to me, “Are you ok?”

                I glanced up at him when I saw the blood on my hand.

                “Why are you bleeding?” Aurelia shouted back at me as she rushed to my side.

                “I don’t know, I don’t know.” I said back to her as I collapsed to the ground still holding onto my side.

                Aurelia then heard the scream from up the steps, “Who was that?”

                I looked at Jared as I felt myself losing strength, “Get to her Jared, get to Genevieve and the baby.”

                Jared took off running up the steps as my eyes rolled back into my head.

                At the hospital, I held onto my side as Jensen stood next to the bed holding his face in fear.

                I sat up when Aurelia walked into the room, “What is going on with Genevieve?”
