Adopted By Vampires

Chapter Seventeen

Eric looked at me and immediately smiled. "Kayla you look beautiful." Eric gushed and I blushed at his comment. He twirled me around and I giggled.

"Don't do that when I have heels on. I might fall." I stated and he smiled.

"I won't let you fall." Eric replied and my blush deepened. Helga walked over and handed me black high heels that had an open toe. I smiled and used Eric as a way to balance myself. When I had put both shoes on he had his arm ready for me to hold. "Come on, take my arm so we can get this night over with." I took his arm and he lead me to a ballroom filled with a bunch of people. I started to grow timid, but Eric looked down and smiled at me. I became more calm and he made me take my arm off of him. Eric put his hand around my waist and I smiled. Many girls looked at me with disgust and some looked at me as if I was food. Then I remembered this was a ball for Eric becoming the king of vampires. The people in there must have been all vampires.

"Not exactly love. There is more vampires yes, but its not all vampires." Eric whispered in my ear. I looked at him questionably. "Some are slaves, others are werewolves. There are even a few shape shifters." Eric explained and I looked at him shocked.

"Its not only vampires?" I asked shocked.

"No, you seemed shocked." Eric stated. I nodded my head. "You thought humans were the only one, I proved that wrong cuz I'm a vampire. So what would make you think vampire's would be the only other species other than humans." I looked at him weird.

"Okay, well I am going to need you to help me know all of these supernatural beings and how to tell what they are." I replied.

"Don't worry I will." Eric whispered and he lead me to the middle of the ballroom. "May I have this dance?" He said and bowed. I giggled and curtsied.

"Yes you may." I answered and took his outstretched hand. We danced through one song and I couldn't even count how many times I had stepped on Eric's foot. I apologized each time but he just laughed and shook his head.

"Stop being worried. Relax and follow my feet." He stated. I looked down at our feet. "Don't look down at our feet look into my eyes." I looked into his eyes and it seemed like time stopped. He flashed me his smiled and I smiled back. We kept dancing until someone cleared their throat. We looked and saw Lucas.

"May I cut in?" He asked and Eric looked at me questionably.

"Yeah, I'll be fine. Go ahead and mingle." I said and Lucas took Eric's spot. He smiled at me and I forced a smiled.

"I'm glad Eric found you." Lucas stated and I looked at him confused. "I know I was a bad father to my son when he was younger, but that was due to my mate leaving me."

"Eric hasn't told me what you have done. He said he wasn't ready and I am not going to force him into telling me." I replied and looked over at Eric. He smiled at me, but it was a worried a smile. I smiled back at him and he relaxed a little.

"I feel so bad for what I did to him." Lucas confessed.

"Why are you telling me? I am not the one who you did it too." I explained. "If you're sorry, why don't you just tell him?"

"He won't listen to me." Lucas stated and he became really sad. "I lost my mate, I can't loose my son as well."

"I'll talk to him and see what I can do." I offered and Lucas smiled again.

"Please, I just want my son to trust me again." Lucas said as the song ended. I nodded and Eric walked over. He put a hand on my waist and had a stern look on his face. His father got the message and looked sadly at Eric. He walked off and Eric looked at me.

"I'm fine, he was really nice actually." I stated. Eric laughed and I raised an eyebrow at him. "I'm serious Eric." He smiled and pulled me off the dance floor.

"Wait right here, I will be right back. There is someone I want you to meet." Eric ordered and I nodded. He walked off and I stood there awkwardly. I heard a shrill laugh and I automatically cringed. I turned and saw Natalie.

Sorry its been long since my last update. I have been very busy and my parents dragged me out and it was impossible to get any writing done for this story. Sorry for the wait I hope this is good enough for you guys.
