Chapter Eighteen

"You're a vampire too!" I shouted.

"No, I'm a slave to Trent." She stated and acted like it was the best thing in the world.

"Wow! Really, I am so jealous like who wouldn't want to be a slave to that nut job?" I cheerfully said with tilting my head. She looked at me and ager flashed through her eyes.

"You better watch it or-" Natalie started to say.

"Or what? You going to hurt me." I interrupted her. "News flash sweetie, my mate will be the king and if you lay one finger on me I will have every right to hurt you."

"My master would never allow that to happen." Natalie declared.

"What is he going to do when my mate has more power over him?" I asked her and she became infuriated. She tried to jump on me but I moved out of the way and she fell on a refreshments table. She got up and her eyes had anger in them. Her face was covered in cake and her hair was matted with cake as well.

"You will die." Natalie said and went to run at me again when a hand clamped down around her throat. The hand was attached to Trent. He was giving Natalie a death glare.

"Natalie, I told you to behave. You have disobeyed me and now you will be punished." Trent stated. I felt a hand on my shoulder and I looked back to see Eric.

"Brother, you can take her to the dungeons. I know you know where they are." Eric stated. Trent nodded and smiled at me.

"I apologize for my slaves behavior Kayla. I will make sure it won't happen again and by the time I am done with her, she will be begging for your forgiveness." Trent said and bowed to Eric.

"Come on Kayla, we have had too many excitements for one night." Eric stated and grabbed my hand. He pulled me up the stairs and we walked back to the room. I yawned as Eric opened the door.

"Eric what's going to happen to Natalie?" I asked and Eric shrugged.

"Whatever Trent believes is fit for her actions." Eric replied. I looked at him and he avoided my eyes. "She is going to be punished."

"This is all my fault." I stated. Eric looked at me weird.

"How is this your fault?" Eric asked.

"If I didn't instigate her then she wouldn't be getting beat right now." I explained. The thought of someone getting hurt because of me played over and over in my mind. My eyes started to water and Eric pulled me into a hug.

"No, she was being disrespectful to you. Natalie needs to be punished for what she did. You are a higher rank than her and she knows better." Eric replied. I looked up at him shocked and he looked back at me confused.

"What about me? What if I was disrespectful to you? Would I also be punished? Would you punish me since your a higher rank than me?" I asked and Eric started to get an angry look in his face. His eyes turned red and I pulled myself out of his arms.

"Kayla, she tried to hurt you. She is getting what she deserves!" Eric exclaimed.

"Okay, but you still didn't answer me." I replied.

"No I wouldn't punish you, because you are my mate and I could never bring myself to hurt you." Eric stated. I sighed and he sat on the bed. His eyes were still red.

"Eric, I'm sorry. I didn't know what I was saying." I said to him and I walked over to him. "Are you mad at me?"

"No, Kayla." He replied and looked up at me his eyes red still.

"Then why are your eyes still red?" I asked.

"Because, the thought of me ever hurting you in any way makes me mad. Especially because you think I would hurt you." Eric explained.

"Eric, I know you would never hurt me." I explained and Eric scoffed. "I do, you don't need to believe me." He looked away from me. "Eric, please look at me."

"No." Eric said.

"Why not?" I asked.

"My eyes are still red and I don't know I just don't want you to see me with red eyes." He answered. I grabbed his face gently and made him look at me. I smiled at him and took my hands off his face.

"I know any normal person would be scared of your red eyes, but then again I'm not normal." I stated and he sighed. "What's wrong?"

"Nothing, I just got a reminder on how wonderful my mate is." He replied.

"I need to get changed and I haven't unpacked can I just wear some of your clothes?" I asked him and he nodded. I went over to a dresser and pulled out a t-shirt and some boxers. "I'll be right back." I said and walked into the bathroom. I got into the shower and used the cherry scented shampoo. I saw green apple scented body wash and used that. I got out and got dressed into my clothes.

I walked out of the bathroom and saw Eric standing across the room. He was staring out the window. I walked over to him and he still looked out the window. I sat on the window sill in front of him. He sighed and looked down at me.

"What's wrong?" I asked. I tilted my head and looked into his eyes. They were back to his normal green ones. He stared back into my eyes a couple more seconds before smiling.

"Nothing is wrong, I'm just thinking." Eric explained. I nodded and kept my gaze on his eyes. He sighed again and kept looking at me "Do you regret becoming my mate?"

"We have only been mates for a day," I started and Eric sighed and turned around. I got up and stood in front of him. "But, I do not regret my choice in accepting you as my mate." His eyes meet mine once again and he rested his hand on my waist. He leaned in and I could feel his breath on my lips. He hesitated for a moment and thats when it happened.

His lips crashed onto mine. Our kiss deepened and he licked my bottom lip I knew he wanted entrance. I denied him so he bit my lip and this in turn made me gasp. His tongue entered my mouth. We fought for dominance but I just let him win, that time. We separated since I needed oxygen. We sat there and stared at each other. The both of us had a grin on our faces.
