Chapter Fourteen

His eyes held sadness and I could tell what he was showing me was scarring him. I pulled him into a hug and he tensed up. "Eric I'm not scared of you I promise." I stated and he put his arms around me.

"Kayla, you don't have to lie to me." Eric said and squeezed me. "I understand if you don't want to be around me. I'm a monster." I heard him sniffle a little bit. I looked at him and shook my head. He had a few tears in his eyes. I wiped them away.

"Eric if you were a monster then I would not be wiping your tears away right now. Why would I be scared of you? You haven't given me a reason in the past three days to be scared of you." I replied. "I'm here for you."

"You have no idea how happy this makes me." He declared. I looked at him confused. "I will explain it all later, I ordered us take out to take home and we will go up to the room, do our homework and talk." I nodded and we got our food. Then we walked to the car and got in. He drove us home and I could tell he was nervous about something. His face had gone back to normal and one of his hands was resting in the middle of our two seats. I placed my hand on his and he instantly relaxed.

"Eric its okay, I promise I will accept whatever you tell me." I promised and he nodded. We pulled in and Eric's parents still weren't back yet. We walked in and got some forks. We walked up to his room and I sat on the bed.

"Michael dropped all of our homework of for us." Eric said pacing trying to stall the conversation.

"Eric, sit down." I stated and he sat by me on the bed. "Now tell me."

"Okay, well you see I am a vampire and also vampire royalty. When I was 13 I decided I didn't want to be in charge anymore so my father disowned me. He told me I can come back if I want, but the things he would do to me aren't worth it."

"What did he do to you?" Eric looked away and shook his head. "That's fine I wont force it out of you. Why are you so protective over me?"

"There is this thing each vampire has. It is called a soulmate. They complete the other and makes them feel whole. If a vampire's soulmate died or rejected him, he would become cold hearted and mean. He would want to destroy anything and everything that reminded him of his soulmate." He explained. I looked at him still confused. "When I saw you and we shook hands did you feel this electric current?" I nodded. "That is how a vampire know its soulmate."

"So what you're telling me is that you and I are mates?" I asked and he nodded. I sighed and looked at Eric. His eyes filled with worry and I knew why. "Eric I-"

"I know, you can't be with a monster like me." Eric interrupted me.

"Let me finish. I would never reject you, I see how much it would hurt you. I wont reject you Eric and you said we should date, well I agree." Eric looked at me shocked. "You tell me to stop being insecure, but yet you seem to be worse than me. Since you are willing to help me I will do the same."

"Thank you so much for not rejecting me." Eric exclaimed and jumped up and pulled me with him. He picked me up and spun me around. I giggled and he set me down. We heard a knock on the door and it was Anna.

"We just so happened to overhear you guys and I would just like to congratulate you." She said and walked out. I laughed and we looked at each other.

"I am hungry like seriously can we eat." I pleaded and Eric laughed. He nodded and we sat on the bed. We ate and did homework at the same time.

"Hey guys, its time for bed." Jack said coming into the room. We nodded and Jack left the room. We laid down and I put my head on Eric's chest.

"Good night love." Eric said as I fell asleep. I woke up to Eric's chest moving quickly. I sat up and couldn't see him that well. I turned the lamp next to bed on. Eric was shaking and he had a pained look on his face.

"Eric, Eric wake up." He shot up and his eyes open they were red. "Eric, are you okay?" He looked at me and his eyes slowly faded back to green. He pulled me into his lap and put his face in the crook of my neck. His face and neck was covered with sweat, but I still put my arms around his neck. I rubbed his back and he just sat there shaking. It took him twenty minutes to calm down.

"It was a nightmare." Eric explained.

"Do you want to talk about it?" I asked him he just shook his head.

"I just need to sit here like this." He mumbled and held on to me tight.

"Okay." we sat there and didn't say a word. He just kept his arms around my waist and his head in the crook of my neck. After five more minutes he looked up at me. "Better?" he nodded. I looked at the clock. it said 7:23 am. "Do you think your parents would let us stay home?"

"I'll ask later, or if we sleep in long enough they won't force us to go." I looked at Eric confused. "They will know why we slept in." I nodded and we laid back down. I couldn't get back to sleep so I sat up and just looked at Eric while he slept. I knew it was a creepy thing to do, but I had to make sure he didn't have another nightmare. I heard a quiet knock then Anna came in.

"Good morning Kayla." she whispered. I bowed my head to her so I wouldn't wake Eric. "Did he have a nightmare?" She asked and I nodded. "Okay, well then you two can stay home today. I know Eric will probably have another one and I think it would be best if you were here to comfort him. She smiled at me and turned to walk out. "Make sure he drinks his blood supplement today. He will be very drained after he wakes up." I nodded again and she walked out. I sat there for a couple more minutes playing a game on my phone when I heard Eric whimper.

"Eric, hey wake up. You're having another nightmare." I said shaking him slightly. He slowly opened up his eyes, they were red like the first time. He looked at me and sat up.

"Sorry for waking you up this morning and right now." He stated while looking and putting a hand on the back of his neck.

"I was already awake this second time." I explained and he nodded. "Are you okay?" He looked up at me and there was so much sorrow in his eyes. Someone had damaged him and I felt like it was my job to fix him. "Anna said she wants you to take your blood supplement." He sighed and got up pulling me with him. He seemed like he didn't want to be alone. We walked into the kitchen and he let go of my hand. He walked over to the refrigerator and got blood out. He turned away from me and drank it. He threw the bag in the trash and walked back to me. He grabbed my hand again and pulled me up to his room. He sat on the bed and I got next to him. "Eric you have barely said anything all morning."

"I know." he stated his voice raspy. "I have these nightmares frequently and I have panic attacks easily. I am a wreck and I understand if that might be to much for you, so I don't blame you if you reject me."

"Eric," he looked away from me. I sighed and crawled into his lap. He avoided my eyes. I grabbed his face and made him look at me. "I already accepted you, I will not go back on it. Yes, you have some problems, but so do I. It won't be that easy to get rid of me. I won't abandon you, I am going to help you get through this. Eventually one day you will be able to tell me why you have nightmares and panic attacks. Until then I am here for you to help you through those nightmares and panic attacks." I told him. He looked at me and smiled.

"Okay and I hope one day you can tell me why you're so insecure." He stated and I nodded.

"I'm going to fix you." I replied.

"As will I to you." He said back and we just hugged. Later that day Eric and I were sitting on the couch watching a movie. Jack walked through the door looking panicked. "Jack what's wrong?" Eric asked.

"Its your father, hes found out that you found your mate and demands both of you to live in his castle for the next three months."

A/N: Sorry I made Eric super sensitive in this chapter. His character has been through a lot so I am trying to show that in this chapter. Did you guys like this chapter? Let me know. Btw Eric will not be as bad from this point on but there are going to be moments where he gets insecure, or cries a little bit. Idk tell me what you think.
