I woke up and saw a fresh set of clothes on the dresser. I got up and grabbed the clothes. I walked to the bathroom. While starting up the shower I examined my face since it was sore. There was a handprint sized bruise on my face. I winced when I touched it. I sighed and started the shower. I got in and immediately became relaxed. I heard a knock on the door.
"Hurry up Kayla." I heard the voice of Trevor. I jumped and slipped. I fell on my butt and laughed at myself. "You okay in there?" he asked.
"Yeah, just slipped." I answered and heard him laugh. I got out, dried off, then got dressed. I opened the door and saw Trevor standing there. His hair was messy and he looked like he had barely gotten any sleep. "Did you sleep at all?" I questioned him and he shook his head.
"No, The person who is keeping you here needed me for something." He replied.
"What did he need you for?" I asked.
"Why do you ask so many questions?" He snapped and I flinched back. His red eyes were boring into mine. I had finally had enough.
"You know what? I'm done, I have had it up to my breaking point here. You treat me like garbage for no reason and I am done!" I shouted. His eyes flared with anger. I grew frightened as he advanced on me. I backed into a wall and closed my eyes waiting to die. Nothing happened so I slowly opened my eyes. Trevor had his back turned to me. "Trevor?" I asked and he turned to face me. His face was contorted to look like a demon's. Veins were under his eyes and he looked like he was trying to control himself.
"Kayla, there is something you need to know." He whispered and I looked at him confused. Where had this side came from, he was acting nervous and I didn't know how to handle it.
"What?" I questioned.
"I am uh.... Never mind." He started, but stopped himself. "Forget about it, thats not important. Anyway what do you want to do today?" I wanted to ask him what he was going to say but I didn't want to push my limits. I felt a hand on my face. I looked at Trevor and he examined my face. "I did this." He stated and put both hands over the bruise. He closed his eyes, I started to feel a burning sensation on my face. I touched my face and didn't wince.
"What did you do?" I asked.
"I healed your bruise that I had caused." He replied and turned around. He started to walk away, I knew I would have to be nice to him now.
"Thank you." I said and caught up with him. He turned and smiled a real smile at me. "If you don't mind me asking, What are you?" I asked.
"A demon." He answered and I nodded. "That would explain my short temper." He joked around and I smiled at him.
"Don't worry about it, my mate can have a short temper as well." I said and looked up at Trevor. He laughed and nodded.
"Yes, vampires are known for short tempers. So, today, we are going to chill around the house." He offered an arm to me and I hesitantly took it. We walked around and I saw a row of five archers. I immediately became jealous and I think Trevor noticed this. "I can teach you how to shoot a bow if you want." He offered and I smiled again.
"Yeah, that would be great." I stated and we walked over to the archers.
"Everyone clear out!" Trevor yelled. Everyone left, but a bow and arrow set was left behind. Trevor handed me the bow, I became nervous. "Calm down Kayla, take a deep breath. Very good, now get into this stance." He showed me and I spent the whole day with Trevor. He taught me how to shoot the arrow, but I wasn't very good with my aim.
"Thanks Trevor, but I'm sort of hungry." I stated after he announced our lesson was over for the day. He nodded and offered his arm to me again. I took it this time with less hesitation. He lead me to the kitchen and made me a sandwich. "How come people listen to you if they already have a master?" I asked.
"Because slaves have to listen to anyone superior to them. If I were to give someone an order that differed from their master's order they would have to listen to their master." He explained and I nodded.
"I thought you were the master in disguise." I said and wiggled my fingers. He chuckled at me and shook his head.
"No, just a good friend." He explained.
"Do you know when I will meet the master of this house?" I asked and he shook his head.
"Sorry, no. My friend is very nervous to talk to you, because you know this person. They are afraid you will hate them." He replied and finished my sandwich. "Here you are my lady." He said and bowed. I laughed and bowed back.
"Thank you peasant." I said and ate the sandwich. He chuckled at me and I heard a bark behind me. I turned and expected to see Savage, but was met with a different type of hellhound. This one was all black with blood red eyes.
"Geros sit." Trevor commanded, but the dog kept coming at me. It sat in front of me and growled. Trevor stepped in front of me and hissed at the dog. "Go lay down!" Trevor roared and the dog went away. "I think its time for you to go to your room for the night." He stated. We went up to my room and I got scared.
"Trevor could you sit in the room with me for tonight. I'm used to having someone with me. This is a new place and-" I started.
"Kayla, stop talking. You only had to ask and I would have said yes. Whatever makes you more comfortable here I will do." He interrupted me and I smiled.
"Thanks." I replied and he nodded. We walked into the room and I laid down. He sat on a chair that was in the room.
"Go to sleep Kayla, II'll watch over you and make sure you stay safe." He said and I closed me eyes, for the first time in the last couple of days fell asleep without tears running down my face.
