Chapter Twenty Four

I woke up and looked around. No one was in the room with me. I looked down at my outfit and I had something different on then what I did last night. I knew automatically that Eric had changed my clothes. I immediately blushed and got up. There was a note at the end of the bed.

'Hello Love, sorry I'm not there to greet your beautiful face when you wake up. My father had an important meeting he needed me to attend. Trent said he will watch over you today. Try not to get into any trouble. Love you.

I sighed and smiled at the note. I got dressed in a simple graphic shirt and skinny jeans. There was a knock at my door. I walked over and opened it. Trent stood there and had a smile on his face. I did a fake smile and his smile dropped.

"Kayla, I know that we started off on the wrong foot. I was in a bad mood that day and hadn't had any blood on top of it, so I was a very cranky vampire." He explained and I raised an eyebrow at him. "I wanted to start over. I'm Trent and Eric is my little brother. I can be a total jerk sometimes, but I am a very loyal guy once I get to know someone." I laughed at him and he stopped what he was saying.

"You didn't have to do all that." I stated and he looked at me confused. "All you had to do was apologize." I explained and he sat there with a blank look. I smiled and hugged him. "I forgive you and don't worry I won't tell anyone what you just did." He laughed and rubbed the back of his neck.

"Thanks, so today I was thinking about taking you to town." Trent stated and I nodded.

"Yeah, but what about the reporters?" I asked and he chuckled.

"Don't worry about it. We will tell them the truth, Eric is away on business so I am showing you the town." He explained and I nodded again. "Well then lets go." He said and started to walk to a car. I followed him out to a like green mustang. I whistle and he smiled at me. "You like it?"

"Yeah." I replied. I was mesmerized by the car. "I love this car."

"Catch." He yelled and threw something at me. I caught it, and it was keys. "The car is yours."

"No, I couldn't take your car." I stated and tried to give the keys back.

"I insist take the car I can always drive one of my others." He answered and pushed my hand back towards me. We got in the car and I drove to the town. We got out and luckily there was no reporters. Trent gestured for me to follow him. I followed him around the whole day. We stopped for lunch at a small restaurant. The waitress kept her head down and never made eye contact with Trent or myself. I didn't think anything of it and just kept doing what I was doing.

"So, Trent what do you think about Lily?" I asked randomly and Trent immediately got a slight blush on his face.

"She is very nice." He replied.

"And," I urged him to continue.

"And, that's it because she would never go for someone like me." He stated and I looked at him weird. "She's a werewolf and I'm a vampire, just doesn't work."

"Bull, I mean come on. Get rid of the normal way and go your own way if that is what makes you happy." I replied and he thought it over.

"You're right. I can't wait for you to become queen, you're going to help a lot of the townspeople." Trent stated and looked down at his watch. He got up with a worried look on his face "We better go." We got up as started to walk out the door just as a guy walked in. Trent got a scared look on his face. The guy had yellow eyes and messy blonde hair. He flashed a smile at me and he had long teeth. He winked at me and I rolled my eyes at him.

"Hello Trent." The boy said and kept his eyes on me.

"Mason." Trent replied and bowed his head quickly. "Let us go, we don't want any trouble." Trent immediately followed.

"No, I really like her. I think you two should stay right here so I can try to get with her." He replied.

"Excuse me, I'm standing right here." I shouted over the sound of everyone talking. They both looked at me. "Hi, Mason is it, yeah okay. My name is Kayla and I have a mate so I would appreciate it if you backed up."

Mason laughed at me and I rolled my eyes I started to walk out, but was grabbed and I flew back into a wall. I got up and rubbed my head. Trent was growing anxious and ran over to me.

"You okay?" He asked and I nodded. Mason grabbed Trent by the collar of his shirt and pulled him outside. I ran after them and Mason raised his fist to hit Trent. I shook my head and knew i was going to regret this. I ran up and jumped on Mason's back. I kept hitting him in the head until he set Trent down. He threw me off him and I stayed on the ground. I couldn't move and the air had been knocked out of my lungs. Mason stomped towards me but a flash of red came out of no where. It took down Mason and I just stayed where I was. I looked over to Trent and he was slowly getting up. When he finally got up he ran to me. His face was even more scared than when he had seen Mason. "Come on Kayla we have to go." He said and pulled me up.

"What's wrong?" I asked and Trent looked back at the animal that was hunched over Mason's corpse.

"Its a hellhound, they're viscous and will attack anyone but they're master." He explained and the monster looked towards me. It slowly walked over to me and Trent. He started to freak out.

"Trent calm down." I ordered and he was still a little jumpy. The demon dog slinked towards me. Its pitch black eyes bore into mine. It was all red and would be easily mistaken for a horse by its size. It was finally in front of me and sat down. It tilted its head and so did I. "Good boy?" I said in a question way. It wagged its tail and jumped on me. It licked my face and I laughed.

"Kayla," Trent said and I looked back at him he looked confused. "I think you're parents lied to you about what you are."

"Why do you say that?" I asked and he tilted his head.

"I'm pretty sure Fae don't have pitch black eyes." I looked at him weirdly. "Your eyes are pitch black."
