Ej's POV-
I was glad Ricky was back from Chicago. I asked him how it went but he didn't want to talk about it, just said his mom was being an ass but what's new?
We had rehearsal today and right after I had water polo practice, which was fun, when we weren't doing 10 laps. Practice is now over and I just got out the locker room shower. I start to change into my regular clothes and my teammates say goodbye. I make sure they're all gone and that no one else is in the locker room before teleporting home.
I walk downstairs to the kitchen opening the fridge.
"Hey sweetheart! How was practice?" Aunt Debby ask me kissing my forehead.
"It was good, just the normal stuff, stretching, laps, games, more laps because people don't know when to shut up when the coach is talking." I respond taking out the tub of ice cream.
I grab a spoon about to dig in when Ashlyn takes the spoon eating some of it herself. She smiles evilly at me and I snatch the spoon away before she could have another bite.
"Where's Uncel Dennis?" I ask shoving ice cream into my mouth.
"He went on a trip to deliver some suits. You guys might have some other superheroes to help you on missions."
That would be nice to have some help. Gina and Brook are amazing and very helpful, but it's a lot of pressure on three teenagers to save the city.
I look at the time, it's almost 5 o'clock I'm going to head over to Ricky's place as B-Man, that's a nickname I made for myself, cool right?!
"I got to get going to Ricky's house, I'll see you guys tonight." I say rushing upstairs.
"You and Ricky are hanging out a lot now." Aunt Debby mentioned.
I freeze, feeling my face heat up. I don't know why I'm so nervous.
"Uh y-yeah, yeah, we're just good friends, just friends, nothing more." Why are you freaking out Ej?!? She just stated something that was true.
Before she could respond I run upstairs transforming in my suit and teleporting to Ricky's room.
He's not in his room and I can hear Mr. Bowen, I quietly walk out seeing his mom and dad coming my way. I run into Ricky's room hiding in the closet. Wait, I could've turned invisible, I really need to start thinking things through.
"He's not here yet Lynn! I already told you that!" Mr. Bowen yells. "And he doesn't want to talk to you after what you said."
Footsteps walk around the room then stop. Mrs. Bowen sighs, well I guess she's Ms. Bowen now, and what did she say to MY Ricky.
"He needs help Mike, that kid he's hanging out with is turning him into a monster!" Ms. Bowen says walking out the room.
"No Lynn! Your the monster for not excepting your own son!"
Woah, ok I have no idea what they were fighting about but Ricky's mom wasn't excepting Ricky, and that makes my blood boil.

Ricky's POV-
The long weekend was over and I was far away from my horrible homophobic mother and her weird, homophobic, bug obsessing boyfriend.
The day after that terrible dinner I texted my dad telling him what happened and he was very mad.
Anyways, I just came home from rehearsal to find my parents fighting, why is she here this time?
"You know what Lynn I'm sick of you, and I'm sick of how you treat Ricky! I don't want you near him and I don't want him going to Chicago with you!"
My mom scoff getting up a walking towards the door.
"Good because if you're not going to get him help I don't want him near me!" She glares at me looking me up and down in disgust. "I'm ashamed of you. I did not raise you just so you can go and start....liking guy!" She says through her teeth.
She pushes past me and walks out the door, slamming it shut. My dad comes to me giving me a hug rubbing my back.
"I'm sorry bud, I'm so sorry." He whispers.
I hug him back kissing his cheek. "Dad, it's not your fault mom doesn't support me. At least I don't have to see her and her bug loving boyfriend." I say making my dad laugh.
"Did he really tell you that bugs are your friends?"
"Yes! He sounded like a creep!" I say laugh.
We break from the hug, my dads hands on my shoulders while he looks at me with a smile.
"I love you so much Ricky, and I'm so proud of you for being you."
"Thanks dad." I say smiling.
My dad leaves the house and I head upstairs to my room throwing myself on my bed. I scroll through my phone looking at social media most post of my friends and some about Bionic Man and his friends. They have become really famous now but not just in Salt Lake, all over the world.
People made them merch, they have action figures, Halloween costumes and people made them fan accounts.
I feel my bed sink besides me and I look to my left to see Bionic Man.
"Hey." I say.
"Hey. I've been here for a while, heard you parents, uh....yelling and they came in your room so I hid in your closet." He says.
I turn on my side and laugh. "Can't you turn invisible?"
He copies me moving on his side, propping his head in his hand.
"Yes I can but I freaked when I heard your parents coming and kinda forgot about my powers." He says embarrassed and I laugh.
He said he's been here for awhile, which means he probably heard what my parents were talking about.
"What did you hear my parents say?" I ask.
"Well I heard your dad say something about your mom not excepting you and she said you needed help, which is not true because I like you the way you are."
I smile at him playing with my bed sheets. I think I should tell him, he's really nice and doesn't seem homophobic, over the weeks we've spent together he showed me that I can trust him.
"Hey, uh, quick question, do you support the lgbtq+ community?" I ask looking away to not meet his eyes.
"Yeah, yeah of course I do! I have some friends that are apart of it. Why?"
I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding. Ok thats good, he supports the group which means he should support me. Right?
"I just wanted to make sure you wouldn't hate me." I whisper and he gives me a confused look.
"What do you-"
"I'm gay! That's why my parents were fighting, because my mom doesn't support me and-"
"Hey." He says placing his hand on my shoulder.
"I'm proud of you Ricky." He says.
The weight on my shoulders lifts and I feel better.
"Do any of your friends know, like Ej?"
My chest tightens at the name of Ej.
"Only Gina, Big Red, Brook and my dad.
"What about Ej? Have you told him?"
"What'a your obsession with Ej? I think you might have a crush on him!"
I laugh and he smiles at me.
"I mean...he is hot." He says.
I nod my head. "Yeah, very."
He looks shocked fully sitting up but I don't think anything of it.
"The reason I haven't came out to Ej is because I like, like Ej. I have a crush on him. I have for like the longest time, since i was in the 5th grade. And if I come out to him and he doesn't support me then I would literally die." I say thinking of the tall green eyed boy.
I turn to Bionic Man after hearing nothing from him in a while.
He's looking down at me in a shocked, angry way. Did I say something?
"No." He says.
"No?"
"No, y-you can't like me, I mean him! You can't like Ej!" He says standing up and I sit up on the bed confused.
"What do you mean I can't like Ej?" I question.
"You just can't! You can't like Ej, it's wrong! You shouldn't even like guys!" He screams.
My heart breaks as tears start to form in my eyes. I get up walking towards him and he backs up hitting the wall
"I-I don't understand. You said you support the lgbtq+ community, why are you getting mad now?!" I yell back tears falling down my face.
"Well I lied! It's-It's disgusting and terrible! You're not normal!" He says and then vanishes.
I process everything that just happened not believing it.
I came out to Bionic Man.
He lied in my face telling me he supported me.
I told him about my crush on Ej.
He got mad and said some really mean stuff.
I'm just so confused. And sad now.
I grab my phone calling Ej. I need some comfort and Ej always knows how to make me feel better.
As soon as I call him it stops. I call two more times and it does the same thing. It's like he's...declining my calls.
Is he mad at me too?
I lay on my bed grabbing Franklin, hugging him close to my chest as I sob. I don't know what went wrong, I don't know what I did wrong! Now, I lost a friend. I cry even more trying to calm myself down, Franklin is helping. My eyes slowly start to shut and I fall asleep with tears on my face and pillow.
Y'all this was too sad for me to write but I promise it gets better. I know this book is long so thank you to all the people who are still here. This story is coming to an end tho but don't worry! I have many more Rj books planned for the future, three to be exact anyways hope you guys are all staying safe and healthy!
