After lunch ended, James had pulled Aurora aside to ask her a favour,
"I need you to help me with something" he whispered so the others wouldn't hear.
"uh, yeah sure, what's up"
"not here, we're going out"
She nodded and they agreed to meet at the front of the house. Aurora returned to the main floor living room where the group gathered on the couch,
"Hey guys, James and I are going out for a little bit so he can help me get something from Dumbledore" she lied. She knew that whatever James needed was importing and a secret solely based on his tone.
She didn't even give Lily or Remus enough time to ask questions before she was out the door.
"So where are we going?"
"No time" James replied linking his arm in hers and apparating them. The twist and turn until Aurora found herself outside a similar home, "James why are we at your parent house"
"I'm going to ask Lily to marry me," he said blankly.
"WHAT?"
He shook his head, then grabbed her hand pulling her through the doorway into his home. Once inside he began to call out for his parents, it didn't take them long before the older couple greeted them with hugs.
"Aurora dear, lovely to see you again. Thank you again for letting him and Sirius stay over, I hope they are behaving themselves"
Aurora laughed, "It's my pleasure really-"
James rolled his eyes, "Rory you sound like a mom dropping off their kid after a sleepover" he chuckled, "Mom I need to ask you something?"
Euphemia dismissed her son's eager words and invited the two in for tea. They sat at their smaller dining table they kept in their kitchen for breakfast time and occasionally passing guests. Aurora politely made conversation with the couple but tried her hardest to doge any possible take of the order as the potters were members as well. James didn't even touch his tea instead he sat restlessly waiting for his mother.
The older woman took a small sip of her tea and placed it down on the table then slid the engagement ring off her finger. She held the beautiful gold and diamond ring in a pinch between her thumb and pointer finger,
"I know why you are back early James... Ive known for a long time just how much you care about Lily"
" mom I-" James tried to interrupt but Euphemia put her free hand up as if telling her to stop talking.
"The point is I like Lily, she's a kind, beautiful girl and I want nothing but happiness for the two of you" she placed the ring on the table and slid it over to her son, "which is why... I'm giving you my ring"
