~time skip~
After the wedding things were good. Great even.
But there must always be a calm before the storm.
James's parents got sick a month after the wedding, fell so deathly ill to die only days apart. The loss took a toll on James he became angry. They died of sickness, a one in a million possibility. They didn't deserve their end but it was no one's fault. That is what hurts James most. He couldn't accept that his parents were ripped from his arms and there was no one to blame for it.
He needed someone to blame, he needed a reason. So he started to go looking, he threw himself into the group's work, through himself into the war. And with him, everyone followed. Aurora was already knees deep into the fight against the dark lord but the rest of the group followed, worried that he would get hurt in his meaningless rage.
The group was again on a mission together. they were to wait out, go in disguise and draw out death eaters who were desperate for muggle-borns and blood traitors to kill.
James and Lily were planted outside a flower shop, window shopping whilst holding hands. Sirius, Remus and Alice were in a shop across the street while Aurora, Marlene and mary were pretending to be customers inside the same flower shop.
It was quiet for a while until an awful ringing filled Remus' superhuman ears. he could hear the sound of death eaters apparating into a nearby alley. James looked over his shoulder to catch Remus giving him a signal that danger had arrived. James turned back around and looked through the glass making eye contact with Aurora, silently passing the message on. Aurora nodded her head and whispered to the girls,
"they're here, ready your wands, they arent going to come easy"
Mary nodded her head and made her way closer to the door when the glass from the front window burst, glass shards cutting deep into her arm. Marlene rushed over to her aid. she looked back at Auroras shocked face and nodded her head towards the street, "go I got her"
Without words, Aurora rushed out of the remnants of the flower shop to see the rest of the shops along the street in flames, glass-coated the stone ground beneath the knees of injured victims a shimmery white. panic begins to fill her lungs mixing with the faint smoke in the once fresh air. She whips her head around in what feels like slow motion, frantically trying to find her friends in the mess. she spots Sirius with Alice's arm over his shoulder helping her out of the flaming bakery whilst Remus helped the rest of the civilians out alongside Sirius.
Aurora releases a breath of relief from her lungs only to lose it again when she spots James and lily on the ground. She rushes over to them in panic dusting the glass off of their shoulder and lifting them from the ground.
" Are you guys alright! "
"not dead yet" lily replies rubbing her head. James had a faint nose bleed but her was too worried about lily to notice. "I think I just hit my head"
it then becomes overwhelmingly clear that this was no longer a safe mission, Aurors friends were hurt, innocents were hurt, there would be no taking these death eaters prisoner. The only opinion is their death. They had inflicted so much harm so quickly, they didn't deserve Aurora's mercy. Darkness clouded her, one she hadn't felt since she was tortured in that mansion. She took a step back, gripping her wand a little tight. She looked to her left for only a second to spot multiple death eaters walking out from the surrounding alleyways.
James furrowed his brows, "Rory? what is it?"
" you guys need to leave, now"
Lily should her head, " no I'm fine"
"This isn't just about your head Lil, if you guys stay you'll die or worse"
"but, the missio-" James tried to argue but Aurora wouldn't let him.
"Fuck the mission. I'm not letting any more of my family die, ill finish this myself" she spoke quickly and she rushed the two towards Remus and the others. The death eaters were getting closer and more were sprouting out of dark corners shadowed by the grey smoke of burning brick. She grabbed the shoulders of Marlene and mary who were stumbling out of the flower shop and rushed them over the group.
"GO, NOW" she wasn't asking anymore. She refused to hear the group's reasoning. her chest rose and fell over and over, trying to keep up with her beating heart. "GO" she yelled one last time as she raised her wand to the height of her shoulder. Her friends behind her grip each other's clothes and they say the smell that would apparate them to Rose Manor. In the split-second left before their bodies began to twist them to into safer air, they saw Aurora change. Their scared beaten-down eyes caught a glimpse of their friend's morphe into something inhuman, scaley and fire breathing.
They land in the living room of Aurora's home. A home that which now belongs to a quarter of them. The injured were moved onto the couches, James gently placed a pillow under Lily's throbbing head. Remus called out to one of the house-elves, begging for medical supplies. their hearts were yet to settle, worrying about the friend left behind to face off against however many death eaters while they were scared and in pain, yet tucked away in the warmth of ancient protection spells.
It was silent amongst the friends for too long. Marlene began stitching Marys's arm when it became too much to bear.
" did anyone else see Rory turned into a dragon?"
Remus was staring blankly into the fireplace while the other nodded acknowledging Marlene's words.
"did any of you guys know she could do that" she continued only to receive the same confused and silent responses as they each shook their heads. All except Remus, his eyes never wavered from the fire as he subconsciously picked at the skin surrounding his thumbnail. a million thoughts rushing through his mind. She was the first to know that he was a werewolf, she has known every one of his secrets since they were sorted into Gryffindor. yet she hid this from him and why? to protect him? to shield him from danger. It was bullshit Because all his mind kept coming back to the fact that she was the one in danger. she was the one that needed to be protected. but she was out there fighting and she has stuck with a warm cup of tea in his palms and his friends safe beside him.
"Remus? did you know mate?" Sirius asked
"hmm?" Remus muttered breaking from his trance
"did you know? that Rory was an animagus?"
"no. no I didn't"
"damn I was hoping we'd be the only ones" James joked. "Rorys always got to make what we look lame"
"I wish I was a dragon, here I am stuff with being some greasy dog"
"Damn that would have been cool to be a dragon" James added to Sirius' statement.
Remus turned to face them, his eyebrows knitted a little too close together, "seriously? Ro is still out there and your mad about what animal you get to turn into" He scoffed as he jammed the heels of his hands into his eyes, rubbing the exhaustion from his eyelids.
Sirius rose his hand tp Remus' should and squeezed lightly, looking him in the eye, "Relax mate, she'll be okay, it Rory we're talking about, besides we were only joking'"
Remus looked up forcing a crooked smile, "thanks"

So it's been almost a year since I've updated, I've kind of been in a slump but I do plan on making a part two of this chapter taking off from Auroras POV so be excited for that! also if there's some mistake, that's my bad I haven't edited this yet.
