JUNE 16, 1977
-about 20 minutes prior-
Aurora and Lily walked the halls back to the common room after studying for the end of year exams. They stopped when Lily spotted James approaching from the distance,
"hey um can you just wait here for a minute... I need to talk to James" Lily asked her best friend, putting a hand on her arm to stop her from walking.
Aurora scrunched her eyebrows and looked around to find where James was, "really? uh yea of course" she smiled.
Lily thanked the girl and took a deep breath then began to walk in the direction of the passing Potter boy. When he saw her he stopped immediately trying to stop the smile that crept its way onto his tips.
"Potter!" she called out to get his attention.
"my darling Lilypad... you look extra scrumptious today"
Normally he would have kept with the usual compliments but this was the first time Lily talked to him without him having to approach her first and that she wasn't insulting him, yet. She looked at him with a mix of an embarrassed and weirded out expression. James' smile dropped when it processed in his mind how odd what he just said was. He cleared his throat,
"Sorry, I uh I don't know why I said that" he scratched his head, hoping to sound calm, "What's up?"
She gave him another slightly disgusted glare,
"uh right," she chuckled, "I was wondering if your Hogsmeade offer still stands?" she had switched her smile to a straight expression so he'd know she was serious.
At first, he laughed but when he saw her smile drop his did too, "WHAT!?"
"I asked if you still wanted to go on a date with me but if you've changed your mind-" she said about to walk away when he grabbed her arm lightly.
"hold on, hold on, hold on" he pleaded turning her back to face him, "are you serious?"
She smirked, "no I'm Lily"
His mouth hung a little amazed, 'This is the best day of my life' he told himself, 'The girl I've had a crush on for six years just asked me out and made one of my favourite jokes all in one day'.
"of course my offer still stands, when do you-"
Lily cut him off by putting her pointer finger over his lips to shush him before he began to ramble,
