FEBRUARY 14, 1976AURORAS POV:
Today is valentines day. Otherwise known as the day mine and Sirius' deal ends. He's held up for the 4 or so months, just like he said he would. I have to give it to him, I didn't think he'd last this long, I honestly expected to find him snogging some girl on my way to lessons with Dumbledore, but I didn't. So I guess I can't complain about agreeing to go on a date with him, it was an agreement anyway.
"I still can't believe you're honestly going on a date with SIRIUS Black" Lily was babbling about as I got ready for our date in Hogsmeade,
"Jeez Lily, I know you hate James and Sirius cause they're annoying but I didn't think you hated them that much" I joked, putting on my shoes.
"I don't hate either of them, their just- you know what I mean," she said in defeat,
"Don't worry, ill be on my best behaviour" I gave her a wink and got up from my bed finally ready, "ill see you later ok," I said leaving the dorm.
I found Sirius sitting on the couch in the common room, he had James' invisibility cloak and marauders map. It's a Friday so Hogsmeade isn't open for students until tomorrow, plus we were going out for dinner so Hogsmeade really wasn't open.
"Hey, you ready?"
He got up from the couch with a smile on his face, I could tell he was excited and to be honest, I am too. Sure I got asked out a lot and I'm not exactly neglected attention from boys but I had always turned them down, until now.
We walked to the hunched over witch statue in one of the corridors, behind the witch was a secret passage connected to Honeydukes. It took up a bit to walk the long tunnel, but once we got there, the shop was closed so it was easy to get out of.
Sirius was friendly with madam Rosmerta, who owned the three broomsticks, so we went there. the two of us sat in a booth near the fireplace and gave madam Rosmerta our orders as she gave us our butterbeer.
"I gotta say, I didn't think you'd last this long... I think this is the longest I've seen you single" I joked,
"what can a say, I'm a man of my word.... besides I'm probably the most surprised, I didn't think you'd even agree at all"
We gave each other a smile and continued to talk. We've been friends since first year, I've been best friends with all 4 of them, the marauders, since first year when I met them on that boat. It was kind of weird at first, I kept wondering how many other girls have been sitting where I am right now but after we started getting into a deeper conversation, all the worry disappeared.
"before we get dessert, I wanted to give you this" Sirius smiled handing me a chocolate rose, "happy valentines day Aurora"
"where did that come fro-" I stopped myself, knowing that's not what's important right now, "thank you" I gave him a warm smile and kissed him on the cheek quickly.
His cheeks began to pinken but I pretended not to notice.
We finished eating at the three broomsticks and thanked Madam Rosmerta, then left the restaurant.
We decide to walk around a little bit before heading back to Hogwarts. It was pretty chilly but not unbearable, the winter snow still sat lightly on the roofs and windowsills of the shops around us. The cold air had made both of our noses Rosey and the breeze smelt like warm butterbeer.
"so... I hear you're tutoring my dearest little brother... how's that? called you a blood traitor yet? hed make mummy so proud" she said sarcastically.
I laughed quietly,
"actually no... he's been really respectful"
Sirius looked at me confused,
"yea um he hasn't made any comment about the dark lord or blood status or anything, which surprised me given how he acts with his Slytherin friends... nasty buggers them," I said taking a deep breath,
"I, I think he just acts like that to impress them or fit in, I don't know but whatever it is, he acts differently when he's alone, he's actually kind of nice"
I looked up at Sirius to meet his eyes, o know he knew I was right but he doesn't want to admit it. He just needs someone to blame for the way his parents treat him.
he didn't say anything, just kept looking ahead to pretend he was fine. but really he was upset, upset at his brother, his mom, the war, everything. I put my hand in his, intertwining our fingers. I held his hand in a comforting way, not so much a romantic way. I would have hugged him but Sirius doesn't like to admit he can has feelings so I had to comfort him in a way that didn't make him feel embarrassed.
It worked well because he began to smile again and talk as we walked the tunnel back to the school.
We arrived at the witch statue and put the cloak over us,
"thank you, I had fun tonight... this was the best date I've been on, really",
I looked back up at the boy beside me and smiled kindly.
