Chapter 28.5

Montessa DiMartino. Wild child, mercenary of sorts and overall badass good person. Her uncle Richard DiMartino was a businessman who dealt in things legally and illegally. Her parents were business people too, until they were murdered in cold blood by their competitors when she was six. Of course they discovered who they were and they were found guilty for conspiracy for murder and some other charges that Monty couldn't be bothered to remember for the death of her. They got bail somehow and 25 years in prison, which in all honesty wasn't fair but apparently, it pays to be rich and influential in their world. So they posted bail and that was the end of that.

Monty didn't cry at the funeral or she doesn't feel like she did, or she chooses not to remember, either way she didn't feel much. Ricky took her under his wing, he loved her like gay oenguins love their adopted eggs. Ricky called her his daughter when he introduced her to his associates, the ones he could trust at least. He loved her more than he loved his own kids before he got neutered by one of his enemies. He had his own kids although. Two boys and a girl, all older than Monty. She wasn't close to any of them, was almost sure that the moment she turned 21 they'd hire hitmen to kill her.

If you'd ask people to describe Monty, they'd give you a plethora of answers. She's crazy, she gets really hyper for no reason, she's brash, confrontational, she had black hair. I don't know, most of it was really random and would differ from person to person. Did she care? No. She didn't think she did but what she did know was that Shiloh needed to appreciate her more.

She had given her bomb advice, a new job, everything she could offer, the least she could say was thank you or sleep with her.

They had become friends in the year Monty tried to go to college. She was at a frat party that allowed girls to go free before 12AM. Stupid white boys. Monty had dressed up hoping to meet some cute girls but instead crashed in a very high, very giggly Shiloh. Monty had dumped the cup of vodka she had on her. Shiloh had stared at Monty for a few seconds before bursting into laughter. It didn't take long for Monty to join her.

Monty had ended up bringing her back to her dorm room and Shiloh had borrowed a new shirt. The next morning they had gone for lunch at this exclusive country club that Monty had a membership for before Shiloh got kicked out for trying to light up a blunt inside the dining hall. Monty had screamed at the manager of the club for being racist because at the time, a few white men were smoking tobacco pipes on the premises. She'd gotten her uncle to sue, and they had ended up owning shares in the country club.

Needless to say, their friendship was alright. That was a year ago, now Shiloh was so wrapped up in her girl problems that she hardly paid any attention to her friends. It was annoying. It made Monty pissed. Now Monty didn't think of herself as disposable because Shiloh was only what she was now because of her, and she meant that in a totally non condescending manner. Monty could care less whatever background Shiloh came from. She was fun either way.

But when Shiloh had dropped her off at her house and asked her to call her uncle, she was pissed and so just like anybody who was told to do something they already planned to do, she pushed it backwards and procrastinated.

She decided to take a day off. She turned her phone off and gave it to her uncle's chauffeur. She had him join her too and she'd settled on having a spa day. Mr Chauffeur's name was Timothy "Edgar," Wright. Monty had thought his name was Edgar when she was younger because according to her, "He had a long nose and only Edgars have long noses,". The semantics didn't matter because who would argue with an eight year old? Unless you were Edgar, well Tim in this case. Anyway the name stuck.

"Hey Edgar, come on we're going to spend the day together."

"Why Miss?"

"Because my friend is a whore and she's insensitive!! Now let's go to the mall and have fun. We'll go to the spa later on, I'm sure you need a break too."
