Love and Hate

"please darlin'" he said, looking at me with those big blue eyes and I huffed out a sigh. "are you sure Dodger will wanna share you again?" I asked, looking up at him from under my lashes, seeing the biggest smile erupt onto his face all night. "He loves you just as much as I do"

And then my heart exploded.

Lucy's POV

I just sat there. Shocked. Staring back at him. The room around us silent. His nervous gaze on me finally fell to the bed in between us, the crumpled up sheets still damp from our love making. The awkward chuckle he let out had me frown a little. "ah..." he smiled shyly, running his hand through his hair like he always did when he was nervous or uncomfortable. "I-I wasn't intending on that coming out like that..." he said, glancing up at me, before allowing his gaze to settle back on the sheets. 

My heart was hammering against my chest. My hands seemed to be shaking for whatever reason, but I shuffled to rest on my knees, reaching up with my hand to touch his soft bearded cheek. His blue eyes shifted to meet mine as I knelt before him, face to face. I bit my lip as I smoothed my thumb over his skin.

"I'm falling in love with you Lucy" His whisper was intimate enough, soul baring and raw. But here he was, sat bare ass naked on the bed before me. In all his muscular hairy tattooed glory. "y-you, you love me?" I whispered back to him, and I couldn't help but tear up as I pulled my bottom lip between my teeth and bit down to hold back my emotions. 

"You um, you don't have to say it back" he added, as I searched his eyes. His cheeks heated up under my gaze, "I just- I couldn't find the right time to say it- I daren't.." he laughed awkwardly. "I'm sorry-"

"don't" I cut him off, his eyes flicking back to look at mine. His jaw tense under my touch as he fought back tears of his own. "don't ever apologize" I shook my head, running my thumb over his cheek. "and when isn't the right time to tell someone that?" I questioned, as his eyes flickered away from me again. "especially when I love you too" 

Chris' POV

I thought for a minute my ears were deceiving me- that I was desperate to hear those words. She loved me? But when I looked back into her chocolatey eyes, and she gave me that brilliant smile, I launched at her. Wrapping my arms around her waist as I pushed her back onto the bed. Her squeals bringing a large grin to my face as I showered her pretty face in kisses.

"Aand caaaan you feeeel the looooove toniiiight" 

"Oh my God! Shut up dork" she giggled at my singing. I laughed with her and pulled her even tighter onto my chest and kissed the top of her head. "I love you" I grinned, feeling something more than relief that I could say it. And more importantly, that she didn't freak out. 

"I love you too" she smiled, turning her head to look up at me. My grin grew wider at her response, looking at her beautiful face. Her soft smooth skin, the scent of her body was intoxicating to me. "I love you more. You have no idea" I whispered down at her. She giggled and blushed, looking away from my intense stare. I brushed the bangs from her face and kissed her again. I couldn't be happier right now. Truly.

*ping!*

"Damn your phone is going off tonight" she sighed sleepily. I smiled at her nuzzling her face into my chest. I ran my hands through her hair as I hummed at her statement. "Probably Scarlett again. Or Mackie drunk off his ass" I answered her, wanting to believe it. "whoever it is, doesn't matter" I whispered. "get some sleep sweetheart" I hushed her, smoothing her hair back with my hand as I held her. "Love you..." she yawned, turning into my side a little more and I smiled, "love you too darlin'" 

I watched her drift off into a peaceful slumber, the flat of her palm resting on my stomach and her head on my chest. Wishing I was feeling so blissful, but instead I lay staring at the ceiling, my head filled with the comments that were filled with nothing but hate. Comments that I couldn't control. Comments that could leave lasting damage. Comments that could tear us both apart.
