Lucy's POV
"You're gonna love it!" Chris' excitable voice had never ceased in practically the full journey up to Massachusetts. His hand gripped mine even tighter as it nestled on his denim clad thigh. "I never wanted to move away from the place" I watched as his blue eyes lit up with enthusiasm. "but then the acting thing got in the way" he briefly let go of the wheel as he modestly waved off his comment like it was no big deal. "I had to get a place in LA. But once I got my first proper pay cheque, I got my mom to look for a place for me near their house" he chuckled. "Can take the boy outta Massachusetts..." I teased, making him chuckle again. "yeah, and it's perfect. I-" He looked back at me, "I've told you all this before" he grinned sheepishly. But I smiled and nodded, "it's cool. I don't mind listening again" I giggled. He raised the back of my hand to his face and pressed his lips softly to it. "you're gonna love it" he repeated once again, as I giggled to myself and looked back out of the window.
................
Not all that long later we arrived at a crossroads, A cute little sign post pointed down a dirt road to the right and straight ahead, but it looked as though nothing existed around here. Chris' SUV took the unposted road to the left, and in the distance I could see the tiny speck of a house on the horizon. I guess we were here....
...........
Our car pulled up on the pebbled drive way- a huge New England style property sat in front of us, grand and a little daunting, but beautiful all the same. I just sat there looking up at the place, through the wind shield, not realising Chris had cut the engine and was sat watching me. "you okay over there?" he chuckled, causing me to break my stare at the house. "uh, yeah..." I laughed awkwardly. "you think you might wanna head inside? I don't wanna sleep in the car when I have a perfectly good bed in there" he winked, his eyes teasing me. I blushed badly and put my head down, my long hair hiding my reddened cheeks. "come on sweetheart" he said softly, squeezing my hand again before letting go and opening the car door.
Once it was closed, I let out a huge puff of air, why was I suddenly nervous and intimidated by a house? I shook my head at my stupidity and grabbed the door handle, when I looked up and saw someone rushing out of the house. Who the hell was that?!
Chris' POV
I made my way to the trunk, grinning to myself at how adorable she was being. I had been waiting for an age to get her here, and I think everyone knew how excited I was about it. Although, there was someone a little more excited than me to meet her...
"Hey! Get off my God Damn property!!" a voice yelled angrily, which immediately had me in loud laughter. "I'll set the dogs on ya!" he shouted again. I pulled our bags out of the trunk and onto to the ground before closing the trunk with a loud thud. The sound of my brother's sneakers on the gravel was getting louder, but before I could spot him I was greeted by an even more welcome sight. "Hey Buddy!!" I bellowed with the biggest grin I could muster. I bent down and scooped up Dodger in my arms and nuzzled my face into his fur. "God I've missed you so much dude" I whispered to him as I held him to my chest. "I brought someone along with me this time" I added, right before Scott poked his head around the corner of the car.
My eyes darted up to him- the rest of my face still buried in Dodger's fur. "I had to check it was you-" Scott whispered, "'cause there's a pretty girl in the front seat" he whispered, making me roll my eyes and snort at him.
Lucy's POV
I could hear whispering outside of the car- I was nervous enough as it is, but he'd not warned me I'd be meeting his family as soon as we arrived...
"Is that her?"
"Of course that's her!"
"she's too pretty for you"
