Lucy's POV

So on leaving work, I told Chris we had to stop on the way home to buy my groceries. I told him to wait in the car- which he agreed to- so I could do my made dash around the store to get my food for the week. "Charlie! Charlie! Charlie!" I whisper yelled down the phone at her, cutting her off before she even said hello. "Luce?!" She questioned and I could pictured her screwed up little face. "Chris is here!" I whispered. "what?!"

"Chris. Is. Here!" I repeated more slowly as I wheeled the cart around the store. "omg no way!" She gasped back at me. "yeah!"

"so what are you doing on the phone with me?!" she quizzed, making me roll my eyes. "I'm at the store getting food. He's in the car" I explained. "I can't believe he's actually there to surprise you" she cooed. "I know right. He said he did what he had to and then rushed out on the next flight to be with me" I said, smiling at the thought. "Huh, you gonna take back what you said?" she asked, smug bitch... "yeah, yeah well anyway, what the hell do I cook him?!" I fretted brushing off what she'd asked. "um...food?" she answered with her lovely sarcastic tone. "babe, he's a regular guy. Buy in beer and meat and some candy and you're good" she replied simply. "besides," she continued, "I doubt it's the food that he wants to get his teeth into..." she teased, making me colour up. "will you stop it!" I hushed her, "he's a guy isn't he?!" she snapped back at me with a laugh. "and a hot one at that"

"oh I'll tell Sebastian you said that" I shot back a reply but she scoffed. "He knows I only have eyes for him" she said smugly. "speaking of- he's due to call me in the next 10 minutes, so do me a favor and get back to Captain Spangles" she said, making me laugh. "say no more...but thanks Charlie" I said, smiling. "no problem. Just enjoy the fact that you have Chris fucking Evans waiting to go to your house...how many girls would kill for that scenario?!" She said, making me blush. "I'll catch ya later" and with that she hung up.

............

I hurried around the rest of the store and filled the cart with what I needed and then took it to the register to pay. I felt like I was in a mad rush to get back out there to him as he waited in my car. But when I walked through the parking lot, I looked up and smirked- his large frame filling the passenger side window as he took in all of his surroundings. He seemingly spotted me as soon as I'd made me way out of the store and as I got closer he opened up the car door and climbed out. He took a few steps closer to me and held out his hands for my bags. "here, I got this" he said, taking them off me before I had chance to even object. "Thank you" I smiled at him, receiving a wink in return before I moved around the car to get in and start the engine.

"it's only about 15 minutes to my house from here." I started as we pulled out of the lot. "are you hungry?" I asked him, glancing over to find him looking back out of the window again. "a little. I couldn't eat much on the plane here- I was too anxious my plan was gonna fail" he said, sending me a timid smile. My brows creased together and he chuckled, "after I got all my shit done and I booked my flight, it was only then when I panicked that you might not be available now" He chuckled awkwardly. I'd pulled up at a stop light and looked over to him. Our eyes locked and I bit back a smile. "well luckily your plan did work." I giggled "yep. And I got to meet Groot" he smiled, making me giggle, "and check you out in a wetsuit..." he said partially under his breath, but enough so I could hear him. My cheeks burned as I pulled away from the light and flashed him a shy look. He was grinning at me widely and I tried to laugh it off. "why is he called Groot anyway?" he asked, changing the subject on seeing my shyness. "at his previous home- where he hatched, there was a competition for the kids to name the new baby Turtle. I guess Groot's the most popular Marvel character" I shrugged teasingly. I sensed Chris turn to look at me, and I fought to keep a straight face, "that right huh?" he asked, and I shrugged, "hey it's not my vote" I replied, keeping my eyes on the road. "so yours would be...." he shamelessly asked. I sighed, thinking for a moment. "well, now I can answer truthfully- being that I've caught up on the movies an' all" I said, looking to Chris who watched me with interest, "I'd have to say either Rocket or T'Challa" I said confident in my choices. "huh" he replied, looking out of the window. I silently giggled and glanced back to him. "at least it's not Thor or Bucky" he mumbled, making me snort out a laugh- not too soon before he started belly laughing too. That guy laughs at everything. "not too jealous over there then?" I giggled, looking back to the road. I felt his blue eyes on me and I felt my cheeks blushing again, "would you want me to be jealous?" he countered, a small smirk on his face. I laughed and shook my head, "maybe a little..." I confessed, biting my lip. I could see out of the corner of my eye the grin that he wore had gotten wider at my admission. But then we arrived at my house.
