Previously...

"Lucy...." I sighed, turning the phone away, I couldn't look at any more of them. I reached out for her hand but she still couldn't look at me. "Sweetie," I sighed, moving closer. "I'm so sorry" I said, a hard lump developing in my throat as I fought back my own tears. "I tried to make them stop last time. But they-"

"last time?" she cut me off, turning to actually look at me. Her face was wet, her cheeks red and her brow knitted together. She sniffed and rubbed her nose up with the back of her hand. Man this wasn't how tonight was meant to turn out.

Chris' POV

"I uh...um...L-last time...It was, ah" I scratched the back of my head as I floundered. I took a deep sigh as her red puffy eyes looked back at me, waiting for my answer. "Fuck...." I whispered, rubbing my face with my palms in frustration. I sucked in another deep breath as I brought my head up to look at her. "When we went out with the guys in Jersey...." I gripped her hand, "My phone was blowing up with photos of us all together, and I saw some comments that I didn't like" I confessed, tearing my eyes away from hers when they started pouring more tears. "I didn't want to tell you because I didn't wanna see you upset...." I sighed, "baby," I reached up to touch her cheek, "Its awful and hurtful but this shit happens to all of us. And we have to learn to shut it out." I said, knowing my words weren't going to comfort her right now. "I'm so sorry sweetheart." I whispered pulling her up onto my lap. She turned her head to the crook of my neck and let me hold her all the way home.

Lucy's POV

I climbed off of Chris' lap when the car pulled up at his house. My heels dug into the pebbles on his driveway and I lifted the hem of my dress and walked cautiously up to the smooth tiles on the front porch floor. My gut felt like I had been kicked in it a million times over, my head pounded and my eyes stung. I finally stopped crying and tried to pull myself together somewhere along the journey home. "C'mon sugar, let's get inside" Chris' voice distracted me from my thoughts as his hand gently touched my lower back. I nodded and waited as he fumbled about with his keys before he placed them into the lock and opened the door.

We stepped inside and I pulled off my shoes. "you want anything?" his voice asked, but I shook my head. "no thank you" I sniffed. "I ugh, I think I wanna get out of this dress" I said, barely looking at him. "okay sweetheart, whatever you need"

......

I went up the stairs and to Chris' room where I found myself staring at my reflection in the mirror  beside the fireplace. She's not good enough for him...look how fat and ugly she is... I unconsciously brought my hands to my stomach, smoothing them over it, turning slightly to see my profile. He can do so much better than that.

I was so wrapped up in those poisonous thoughts that I hadn't noticed Chris in the room with me. "Sweetie..." he whispered gently, startling me. I looked up in the mirror and saw him behind me, looking at my face with worried eyes. "you've been up here 20 minutes" he said, nervously looking at body and the fact I was still in my dress. I laughed slightly, trying to ease the tension between us, but somehow I made it worse. "C-could you please help me with the zipper- Tracey did it earlier, I couldn't reach it" I said softly, moving my hair over my left shoulder. He agreed wordlessly by nodding his head and then I felt his warm hands brush over my skin as he gripped the zipper and slowly pulled it down my back.

"Chris..." his name on my lips was a little too harsh as I sort of winced when his lips connected to the crook of my neck. I gripped the material of the dress tighter to my chest as I watched his face fall in the reflection. He bowed his head in defeat and sighed, nodding a little to himself. "I'll give you some space" He mumbled before turning away and leaving the room without so much as a glance in my direction.
