Lucy's POV

"I-I need to talk to you" I stammered nervously, wringing my hands together on my lap. "I need to tell you something" I added, looking down to my hands. "shoot." he said lightly, resting his left forearm on the steering wheel as he looked down at me with a gentle smile. I took a deep breath and looked up to his eyes. "I'm pregnant"

Silence filled the car. An awkward atmosphere hung around me as I waited for him to respond. His eyes were still locked with mine, as his brain was clearly trying to process what I had just told him. I wasn't sure whether I should keep quiet until he chose to say something, or whether I should explain.

When I looked back to him, I could see the colour had drained from his face. His jaw was set but his eyes showed the fear that he held inside. My heart was breaking already. Wishing I had waited until later tonight to tell him. "I-I didn't know, um...I was still um...my cycle was regular. until it wasn't." I shrugged awkwardly. Talking about that stuff with him was a little irregular to say the least. "I um..." I sighed, "I wasn't planning on dropping this on you right now- I just, I wanted to tell you straight away. But I wanted to wait until I saw you. I-"

"How long have you know, a-about this?" he interrupted. I looked up at him and swallowed hard. I couldn't read his expression right now. "A week" I admitted. "I wanted to tell you as soon as I found out. But it's not the type of thing that I wanted to say over skype" I added. "how far? Um, how far into this are you?" he asked, his hand visibly shaking as he raised it to rub his forehead. "10 weeks...." I said so quietly it came out as a whisper.

"10?" he asked me, "10 weeks?" He repeated. His hands ran over his face once more. I sat watching his face, but I had no clue what he was thinking. "I um..." he swallowed. "I think I need a couple of minutes to process this" he said, looking down at the console between us. Suddenly my heart wanted to shatter. "I'll, um, I'll meet you inside" he said, still not looking at me. I felt bile fizz up my throat, my stomach twisting in knots. "Oh-Okay" I nodded, fighting back the tears. But I shakily opened the car door and climbed out. How my wobbly legs carried me in my heels across the ground and to the front door of the farm house.

I momentarily glanced back to my car, where I had left Chris. But it was too dark to see him properly. The image of him went blurry due to the tears that were building up in my eyes. I swallowed my emotions down as much as I could and turned away to head inside.

...............

The warm aroma of pumpkin spice filled my nostrils, but it wasn't my hormones making me want to throw up because of it. It was the fact of Chris being out there now and I had no idea what was going through his head. "You made it!!" A loud excited voice screeched. "where's Chris?!" Charlie appeared from nowhere, rushing over to me at the door. I would have made a smart ass remark about her Umpla Lumpa outfit if it weren't for my inner turmoil right now. "he's uh...he's just outside" I nodded with teary eyes; hoping Charlie wouldn't catch on. But of course she did. "is, everything okay?" she asked, touching my arm. Her concerned green eyes studying mine. I nodded and plastered a smile onto my face, but being the true best friend that she was, she saw right through it. "come on" she said, grabbing my forearm and pulling me up to her room.

..........

"Seb!" she called out before barging into her room. The door flung open and I was greeted with Sebastian standing in front of her mirror, fixing his shiny black wig. He jumped at the noise and spun around. "Oh Hey Luce" he smiled, showing me those God awful big white teeth Johnny Depp wore in the movie. I couldn't stop myself from smiling. "Hey Seb" I greeted him as Charlie tugged me down onto her bed. "Where's Chris?" he asked, watching us with a frown. "That's what I want to know" Charlie said, kneeling down beside me. I took a breath and wiped my eyes as a treat plopped onto my cheek. "I-I told him" I sniffed. "oh my God!" Charlie gasped. "what did he-When?!" She whispered, grabbing both my hands in hers. "J-just now. O-outside" I sobbed.

"Tell him what?" Sebastian asked, coming to kneel beside Charlie. I looked up to him from under my lashes, then to my best friend. "I haven't told him" She said, squeezing my hand gently. I gave her a small smile and then looked back to Sebastian. "I'm pregnant" I whispered to him, sniffing as I did. Seb's eyes went wide and his mouth opened in shock. "I'm gonna be an Uncle?!" He gasped excitedly. Typical Seb. "Not the time Sebastian" Charlie glared at him. "Where is he?!" He jumped up looking to the bedroom door. "He-he's outside." I blubbered. "t-told me to come in. He wanted space" I said, my nerves just about hanging on. "Charlie" I said, looking to her eyes, "I think my worst nightmare is coming true right now" I squeaked out as the tears began to fall like a tsunami. "oh Sweetie, no...He will be in here in seconds. Just you wait"

.............

I'd like to say that she was right. But you guessed it huh. He didn't show up. Not after a few seconds, or even minutes. Each time that front door opened my head spun around like something from the Exorcist, waiting for my favourite person in the world to come through that door way, smiling that charming smile that everyone fell in love with. But nope.

"you want me to go out there?" Sebastian offered. He'd not left my side since I had arrived. The party was in full swing and he should have been joining in, especially with it being Charlie's family, but he was looking out for me. "It's okay Seb, thank you" I smiled meekly. "I'm gonna go out there and see what's going on" I said. He nodded, pressing a little kiss to my temple. "we're here if you need us" he said, and then disappeared off. I swallowed hard and clutched at my purse before heading to the door.

The cool October air swirled around my skin, causing chills in my body. But my nerves were distracting me as I looked towards my car for Chris. I stepped off the front porch and to where we had parked up. But my car was empty. I spun around looking for him. There was no one around, being that the guests were all inside, dancing to the Monster Mash that was booming out into the night. I scanned the area around me, but I couldn't see anything. Or anyone. My whole body started to shake as I spun around and around, looking frantically for any sign of him. Nothing. Still. So I pulled off my heels and dropped them beside my car and I took off around the back of the building to see if he was there.

Nothing.

My feet hurt from the cold hard ground as I walked back around to where I had started. I pulled my phone out of my purse and dialled his number. It went straight to answerphone. The sound of his voice on the other end of the line had the tears welling up thick and fast falling down my cheeks like a waterfall. I didn't have the energy to say anything. Or an idea of what I was meant to say. I just wanted to leave. So I bent down to retrieve my heels from the floor when I noticed something glistening on the tyre. I reached out to pick up my keys off of the wheel. My hands trembled as I looked down at the keys, sitting in the palm of my hand. He was that pissed he left my car here and walked away?

He actually walked away? How could He?

"Sweetheart?" I spun around hearing that word, and my heart jumped up into my throat.
