After Emily died, the Scamander's moved to Central London. Mrs. Scamander fell into a deep depression after the loss of her daughter and refused to leave the house. Mr. Scamander, whose never been a guy for breaks, took time out of his day now to take care of Theseus and Newt. He often lost track of Newt, who usually snuck off to the roof to spend time with the Hippogriff's.
One day, Mr. Scamander decides to step in and ease his wife out of the house.

"Elizabeth? The boys want to spend time with you."
She looked back for a second, then stared out the window again. He walked over and gently set his hand on his wife's shoulder.
"Elizabeth, you have two sons who need you."
She shrugged off his hand and walked over to the mantle, picked up a photo of Emily and threw it at the wall. Mr. Scamander ran forward and picked it up.
"Elizabeth, no! This was your favorite picture of her!"
"Oh, quiet, George! She's gone! I don't want to see her face!" Elizabeth yelled through shaky breaths.
She grabbed the picture, crumbled it into a ball, and threw it into the bin. George watched Elizabeth leave the room before he went after her. Newt came running around the corner, where he had been watching the whole scene lay out, reached into the bin, and pulled out the photo; which he proceeded to unwad and stuff into his pocket.

Elizabeth stormed out onto the roof and started to jump, but George drew his wand and stopped her.
"You're being selfish, George!" she broke out.
George dropped his wand "Oh, I'm being selfish! You were about to jump off the roof over the death of one child! What about Theseus?! What about Newt?!" George gesture back to the door as he asked her this "You would leave them behind just to be with Emily?!"
"They have you!" Elizabeth said, dropping to the floor.
George stood where he was, but continued with "I'm not always there and Newt prefers you over me. You know that!" George dropped to the floor in front of Elizabeth and lifted her head to meet his gaze "I need you to stay. I can't live on this world without you."
Elizabeth sniffed and placed her hands on George's, removing them from her face. She smiled.
"I'm sorry."
