Tina shut her bedroom door rather loudly. But she didn't care. What was happening? She was in Newt's case for three or so minutes, but it had felt like longer. She held her shoulder, where she and Newt had brushed against each other. Her heart felt as though it were beating out of her chest. It made her think of her past.

Tina jumped down off the playground equipment.

"Mama!" she laughed "Did you see that?"

Tina's mother sat on the bench, rocking Queenie gently. She smiled and nodded. Tina giggled and climbed back up the play equipment. Another boy was up there now. He looked at Tina and smiled. Tina smiled back. He had blonde hair, blue eyes, and a perfectly white. The rest of that afternoon, Tina and that boy, who she learned was named David, played together, running from one side of the playground to the other. Tina won every time, of course.

But, it was a few weeks later, Tina went to the park again and the boy was there again, telling her he couldn't be friends with her. Tina went home with her mother, crying because she had always had trouble making friends. Her mother cheered her up by playing a game the two created together while eating ice cream.

It had been years since the playground incident and Tina was now a second year. She was sitting in the back of the library when a boy in her house walked up to her.

"Hey, Tina."

Tina looked up a little, smiled, and said "Hi, Maverick."

Maverick sat down next to Tina and got out his schoolwork. Tina felt her cheeks burn in embarrassment. She didn't know how to say she studied better whilst she was alone and she didn't want to tell Maverick to go away. So, Tina sat and attempted to continue studying while feeling her cheeks burn.

It had been a few months since Maverick started to study in the library with Tina and she was starting to think that he liked her. But she didn't want to ask, so instead, one Saturday she watched him from around corners (weird, I know, but she was twelve) to see about overhearing some conversations. But, afterwards she wished she hadn't done that, because she overheard him say.

"Oh, hey. You know how I sit in the back of the library with Tina Goldstein."

"Oh, yeah, Mav." one of his buddies said.

Tina leaned forward slightly, but Maverick continued with "I only do that, because she seems lonely and I feel bad."

"Oh, thank god dude! I was starting to think you liked her!" his other buddy sighed in relief.

Tina heard Maverick say 'Hell no!' before she took off down the hall, trying her best to hold back tears. In her dorm, she sunk to the floor, clung to her robes, and cried hopelessly.

'I will never fall in love.' she swore to herself.

It was now her seventh year at Ilvermorny and Tina was excited to leave school and get a start on becoming an Auror. Her best friend, Quinn, jumped at her from behind. She screamed from shock before staring at Quinn like she were done with her shenanigans. Quinn leaned on her knees to catch her breath before saying;

"Oh, lighten up, Tina! You know that's just typical me!"

Tina and Quinn started to walk down the hall again "I know, Quinn. But, I'm going to be an Auror. I can't drop everything just to have fun all the time."

Quinn sighed "Yeah. But, you're not an Auror yet!"

Quinn shoved Tina playfully into the wall, then ran like hell through the courtyard. Tina shook her head and ran off after Quinn. She chased Quinn through the castle, laughing and yelling at her to slow down. They finally stop to catch their breath back in the Thunderbird common room. Tina hit Quinn across the head as a way to get back at her, which made Quinn chuckle and say;

"Race you to the dorm!"

The two girl shot across the common room to the stairs leading to the dorms and got held up because Tina tripped over one of the steps. That ended the race, because Quinn had to haul Tina up and neither of them wanted to run up the stairs after that.

Later that night, Quinn and Tina were sitting on Tina's bed throwing their wands out in front of them; making shapes. Quinn asked;

"When we leave school, you'll keep in contact with me, won't you?"

Tina stopped creating shapes for a second and stared at Quinn "Of course I will. You're like a sister to me. I could never forget you."

Tina was clinging to her dresser, in tears. Newt appeared at her door and asked in a very soothing voice;

"Tina, are you okay?"

Tina looked up at him, then turned away in an attempt of not letting him see her crying. It was a failed attempt, because he walked over to her and pulled her into a hug. Tina leaned deeper into his embrace and clung to his shirt, breathing in the smell of the outdoors and him through deep breathes. Newt rested his head on top of Tina's and she instantly felt slightly better.

With a small voice, Tina said "Can we stay like this forever?"

Newt smiled slightly "For as long as you're comfortable, Tina."
