Chapter 21: Can you eat them?

*Sorry for the short chapter and irregular uploads but I am kinda having a writer's block*

The end of march was drawing closer and so was Fred's birthday.

I tried to hang out with Fred everyday. We were either studying in the library, chatting outside or visiting the kitchen.

We still weren't officially dating but all of our friends basically knew. He didn't ask me again after he did 2 weeks ago.

I was getting a bit worried about his birthday because I didn't know what to get. I couldn't go to Hogsmeade because the next trip wasn't until May.

As usual Fred and I were spending the afternoon. I already finished my homework and was basically waiting for him to finish his.

But I just couldn't get up with something to give him

"Oh shit I forgot my potions books!" Fred spoke up "I am just getting real quick!"

"But it's almost dinner!"

"Well I guess see you at dinner then!" he chuckled "Au Plus!" he got up and left me alone

And that was when it suddenly hit me. Fred kept saying "au plus" wrong on purpose.

I quickly took some parchment out of my back and started writing.

Hey Mum,

I am sorry that I didn't write lately but I just kinda forgot....

First of all, I got to tell you something: I met this boy and I really like him. His name is Fred Weasley and I met him here at Hogwarts. I'll tell you everything when I get back in summer.

Anyways his birthday is coming up and I still don't have a present. So I thought that since he always says: "Au plus!" I should get him something that is French.

This is more of a last minute idea so I hope you will get this letter in time

I thought that you could maybe send me some patisserie, like for e.g. macarons

I folded the letter up and gathered the rest of my stuff together before leaving the library. I checked my watch and saw that I had 10 minutes till dinner.

I quickly made my way out of the castle and to the owlery where I sent the letter of.

A few days later it was the 1st April. I was sitting with Fleur at breakfast nervously shaking my leg.

"Oh Y/N why are you nervous?" Fleur looked a bit worried

"It's just that it is Fred's birthday today and I don't know I am just a bit nervous!" I confessed

"Don't be! Just imagine it like it is my birthday!" Fleur suggested as Antoine made his way over to us

"Antoine what is it?" I looked at my brother

"Mum sent this to me" he handed me a box "But she told me to give it to you!"

I opened the box and saw a few macarons.

"Thank you Antoine" I told my brother and he left us alone again

"Why would your mum send you macarons?" Fleur asked confused

"I asked her to send me ones for Fred! You know kinda like a joke 'cause he still says 'Au Plus!'" I smiled

"That is so cute Y/N!" Fleur smiled

I wasn't able to see Fred during the school day and neither at lunch.

I was just making my way to the library after my last lesson. Fred and I usually met there so I thought I would find him there.

But then something jumped on me from behind. I let a little scream escape my lips.

"Fred!" I smiled as soon as I turned around "Happy Birthday!" I threw him into a hug

"You know what?"

"What?" I looked at him

"I am 17 now so I am officially an adult!" he smiled

"And still act like a child!" I laughed

"Hey! That is not true!" he laughed "Wanna go outside?"

"Sure!" I told him and we made our way out of the castle and sat down on the gras. I still had the box of macarons in my bag

"I've got you something!" I tried to take the box out of my bag

"You didn't have to Y/N!" he chuckled "You are the best thing anyway"

"Still" I laughed blushing slightly

"Here" I handed him the box but he was just looking at me "Open it!"

"Are you sure that there is no explosion in there?"

"No because my name is either Fred, George or even Lee" I chuckled

"What are those?"

"There are called macarons!" I explained "There are French"

"Can you eat them?"

"Yes" I laughed "Try one!"

He took one of the macarons out of the box and tried one

"They taste amazing!" he smiled "You have to get more of them!"

"I am happy that you like them" I smiled

"Thank you so much! But I actually have a question for you!"

"What?"

"You remember how you didn't want to put a label on anything?" I nodded "Well do you want to now?"

"Sure why not" I smiled

The next thing I knew was that I was thrown into a hug followed by a kiss.

We continued to talk till dinner and joined the others afterwards for a small party.
