lee minho had concluded he was ordinary.

sometimes.

but then, he concluded something else about himself every time he walked home from school. every day, he pondered about questions he had not yet an answer to. all he could do was analyse his own behaviour, his responses, actions, movements.
sometimes there was not much more to analyse than his checkered vans and the pace of his steps.

he shrugged it off and opened the front door of his house, where he was greeted with a loud meow from dori. 'hey little one,' he mumbled, picking the cat up. he looked around the room, but soonie and doongie were nowhere to be seen. minho washed some grapes for himself and gave dori water, followed by him going to his room so he could contemplate life further in uttermost peace.

he had only just lied down when his phone produced a hellish amount of sound. he groaned. his phone was on the other side of his bedroom. he found the motivation to get up anyways and shuffled across the room.

it was just seungmin.

'yes?'

'you joining tonight?'

'sure. what time?'

'nine. new friend of chan is joining.'

he nodded once, before realising seungmin couldn't see that.

'do i know this friend?'

'nah.'

'what's their name?'

'uh.. jisung, i think.'

there was some rustling in the background. 'chan?' he heard seungmin call. a vague noise followed, what could only be coming from chan.
'your friend's name is jisung, right?'
more noise.
'yes his name is jisung.'

'cool. do i have to take food with me?'

'nah that's okay. see ya.'

'bye.'

nine o'clock. that left him with five hours of roaming around the house, trying to do homework in the mean time as well. he searched for a jisung in chan's following list on instagram, and found an interesting looking fella. han jisung.

minho wandered from room to room, reading a book as he walked. the time passed and soon enough it was time for him to leave.

seungmin had told him not to bring food, but he took a bar of chocolate with him anyways. fucking try me.

it was a short walk to chan's house, really. he knew this, yet he misestimated the time gravely. apart from chan and the boy he assumed was jisung, he was the first one there. of course, they had to go through an awkward meeting first. they politely shook hands as chan introduced them to each other.

'jisung, minho.
minho, jisung.'

'hi.'

'hello.'

he smiled. jisung's handshake was firm, despite his slender and seemingly weak fingers.

chan started telling him about jisung and how he had just moved here. minho didn't really care, but tried to listen anyways. he was younger than him, he used to live in malaysia, he plays guitar. then chan began about minho.

'he has ... several cats,'

minho's head shot up. 'how many?' he smiled. chan blinked, mind blank.

'four?'

'three!'

chan held his hands up in surrender. jisung laughed.

'he also likes to dance... and he always pretends he doesn't care, but he does.'

minho frowned, but did not object. it was only true half of the time.

soon enough, the others came in as well. chan made his poor friend shake hands with everyone in the room. however, he didn't really seem to mind. jisung smiled brightly at everyone.

'jisung, this is hyunjin.'

'seungmin'

'jeongin'

'felix'

'changbin'

it was a strange group, really. they became friends, despite the age difference, through school and relatives. but it worked. over time minho had taken liking to seungmin, as he was easily teased, but originally he joined for chan. not that the others weren't nice to him.

they decided to watch a movie. it was always a hassle trying to find a movie that all seven of them liked, and now they were with eight. great.

it took them a solid 30 minutes to decide on a movie minho didn't really care for, but it was fine. maybe he could catch up on some sleep for a change.

a futile idea, as all the noise kept him from drifting off.

instead, he went to the kitchen to get drinks for everyone. he took his sweet time, content with some peace and quiet, until felix came to help him. 'you were taking too long.'

minho stuck his tongue out at him. the gesture was returned with love.

they started chatting about everything and nothing. music, dance, school. it really didn't improve the speed of the drinks, felix just sat down on the kitchen counter and minho stopped making drinks to talk to him. soon enough, changbin came in as well. they abruptly stopped talking.

'what's taking you lot so long?' he asked, as he took in the situation. it was blatantly obvious that neither of them was doing anything. they didn't answer, but then, they didn't need to. changbin sighed and took the job of finishing the drinks upon himself. minho left the kitchen, leaving felix and changbin there alone. they were best friends, and he just felt awfully useless in a conversation when it was just them.

he plucked the chocolate out of his bag and took a big piece before letting it pass around the group. not much was left once it was back in his hands. he figured felix and changbin would probably like some as well.

'i told you you didn't have to bring food.' seungmin said.

minho looked at him. 'yet you took some anyways.' seungmin laughed at that. 'touché.'

the movie was barely halfway, but now everyone was actually paying attention.

he fell asleep without difficulty.
