a week later. his mother's death day.

minho was taking a stroll through the forest. the weather was amazing. he couldn't understand how the skies could ignore a gloomy day like this. how dared they get rid of dark clouds, making way for the sun, when all he wanted to do was drown in the rain?

ever since his mother's death, he had not cried.

he hadn't wanted to, and was determined not to do so. it felt disrespectful to shed tears over something less awful than losing his own mother.

he hadn't even cried when he had slashed open his wrists. even though his eyes had got watery from the seething pain, he did not drop a single tear.
he had been so calm then, because he would see her again. when he woke up in the hospital ... he felt absolutely defeated.

minho left the forest and made his way to the cemetery.

he saw his dad standing in front of his mother's grave. he had lost his wife. his other half.

sometimes, late at night, he could hear his father sob through the wall. it were those moments that truly broke minho's heart.

'hey dad,' he said, as he stood next to his father.

'oh, hey.'

'i didn't know you were back.' he had been abroad for almost the entire week. let's just say Jisung was over a lot.

'can't miss it, can i?' he sighed.

'suppose not.'

'i'll leave you alone. see you at home.' his dad pat his shoulder. he casted one more glance at the grave before heading off.

minho was alone now. he sat down in front of the grave. there were fresh flowers on top, probably from her husband. red roses. she loved those.

'i'm sorry for not visiting,' he mumbled.

he hadn't visited as much as he would have liked. it had been months since he set foot in the cemetery. but he just couldn't get himself to go there, to face her death again.

he rubbed his eyes. he hadn't slept much.

'i am auditioning for a place as trainee at jyp. i think i'll be able to make it ...'

he started talking about his life, about anything interesting that he experienced the last few months. not that that was much. apart from the talent show the only really interesting thing was his holiday to amsterdam, which he did not explain in detail (for obvious reasons).

'i also met a boy.'

of course he told her about Jisung. how could he not?

'we're dating now. i haven't told dad yet, but i think he'll be okay with it.'

he considered it, but was interrupted by a notification.

Jisung

Hey
How r u holding up

im ok
am at the cemetery

U want me to come?

no thats ok
wait actually
yes please

Ait, omw :)

'he's coming here, so you can meet him. his name is Jisung. i think you would have loved him,' he sighed.

he waited in silence, thinking of his childhood.

minho looked up when heard footsteps. Jisung was standing there, the sun shining just behind him. he looked ethereal.

'hey,' he smiled. he crouched and gave minho a well-needed hug.

'are you okay?' he whispered in his ear.

'have been better,' minho cracked a sad smile.

Jisung sat down besides him. it can't have been easy to meet him here, when his own parents passed away as well. but he came anyways, wanting to be there for minho.

'thank you for being here. it must be hard for you.'

the younger nodded slowly. 'it's alright. i'm okay.'

for a while, neither of them said a thing, both thinking about their parents.

then, Jisung spoke up.

'you wrote your name in the sand
and left the beach.
now the wind has faded your letters
but i shall retrace them for you.'

he noticed the birds were chirping.

'that's nice,' minho whispered.

'yeah.'

he realised the sun was shining for his mother. the skies, preserving her memory.

and while she might have been ripped away from minho's life, she still watched over her son.

he turned his face towards the light and closed his eyes, letting her love shine down on him.
