Will you find me
Or continue to ignore
We are walking together
But you are across the roadThat evening Jisung walked towards Chan's with Hyunjin. His companion was quiet, and Jisung figured that it probably had something to do with Seungmin kissing Jae earlier that day. Whenever he asked him if he was okay, he simply said he was. Act like it, then.
Hyunjin looked a bit better once he was surrounded by his other friends, even if that included Seungmin. They waited for Felix, who was running late.
Once their friend arrived, they tried finding a movie. Eventually they landed on some teen girl drama. It looked awfully lame, but then, who didn't enjoy a good old mean girls kind of film? They decided to give it the benefit of the doubt.
It was an obvious film, with a rich girl, a cool jock and the innocent new girl.
'Ew, a fuckboy,' Seungmin remarked.
'Naturally.'
'Just like you,' Hyunjin mumbled.
'What?'
'What?'
'You- Why did you say that?'
Everyone was listening, waiting. Jisung wondered if he had to pause the movie for this. Seeing Jeongin's eyes still glued to the screen, he turned the volume down instead.
Hyunjin cocked his head. 'What do you want me to say?'
The other frowned, but didn't say anything.
'I'm right, am I not?'
Seungmin was at a loss of words. His eyes darted all over the room, before storming out. Chan followed him immediately, not even sparing Hyunjin a glance. Minho followed, giving the tall boy a strange look.
It was awfully quiet now. No one was sure what to do, looking between Hyunjin and the closed door.
'That wasn't very smart,' Felix remarked. Jisung nodded slowly.
Hyunjin shrugged, looking beaten. He didn't really have the right to, but okay.
Changbin scratched his head. 'Are the others gonna come back? Otherwise I think I'll just leave.'
'Yeah, me too.'
'What about the movie?' Jeongin looked glum.
'Ah I'm sorry bud, but we can finish it another time?'
The maknae thought about it, but after glancing around the room he nodded in agreement. 'Fine, it's awkward now anyways.'
Everyone just slowly left after that. Jisung stayed a bit with Hyunjin, sitting in silence, before the other also announced he was leaving, and that he would like to walk alone. So Jisung waited, alone in Chan's living room. He brought some empty glasses towards the kitchen and cleaned up crumbs. When everything looked tidy again, he left as well.
The moon illuminated the streets. There weren't many people still out. There was a man walking his dog, but that was about all. Fair enough, it was around 11 p.m.
The air was cool, and Jisung made sure to breathe in plenty of it.He walked past a small kiosk that was still open, and saw Chan and Minho sitting on a bench next to it, cup of coffee in hand. Minho had one foot placed next to him on the bench and was listening intensely to Chan, who was telling him a story with wild gestures.
'Yes, and he's the coolest one. He's Australian and has boomerangs, an absolute badass,' he heard Chan say. The hell was that about?
'Hey guys.' Jisung stopped in front of them, keeping his hands in his pockets.
'Oh hey,' Chan said, 'did everyone leave?'
He nodded. 'Don't worry, I cleaned up a bit.'
The blonde beamed. 'Thanks!'
'Where's Seungmin?'
'He went home, he wasn't feeling very well,' Minho looked annoyed.
Your careless demeanor is nothing but an act, isn't it?
'Yeah.. I don't know what got into Hyunjin. I guess he was upset about Seung kissing Jae.'
'Why?'
Jisung frowned slightly. 'I think he's into him.'
'Really?'
'Yeah, we talked about it a little, but I'm not sure.'
'Huh. Seungmin is also into Hyunjin, though uh.. maybe not anymore.'
'Do we do something?'
'No,' Chan shook his head. 'Let's wait a bit first. They should be more than capable of fixing this themselves.'
Minho snorted, as if he didn't believe they could.
Jisung, however, nodded. 'Agreed. So, what are you grandpas doing here?'
'Drinking coffee.'
'Ah yes, thank you hyung. Can't believe I missed that big cup you're holding there.'
Minho started laughing. Jisung shook his head, smiling. You are a nightmare and a dream.
Chan sighed at the two giggling children in front of him. 'We didn't want to go home yet, that's all. Maybe gonna play some videogames at Minho's.'
Minho nodded. 'Wanna join?'
'Sure,' Jisung said. He quickly got himself a coffee as well, before they made their way to Minho's. He would have to walk the whole way back later, but oh well.
'Please, no more Mario Kart.'
'Fine, fine.'
While Minho got them something to drink in the kitchen, Jisung talked some with Chan. Then they started playing.
It was around 2 a.m. when Jisung left Minho's place. This time he had made sure to text his brother he would be home late. Chan lived somewhere halfway, so they walked together.
'Sometimes I don't get Minho.'
'Me neither, mate.'
'I don't know him that long, you know, but like, one day he's nice and then the next day he ignores me. Is he always like this, or..?'
Chan hesitates. 'Sort of. I think he's just cautious with you right now, but once he knows he can trust you he's alright. Though sometimes I don't get much out of him for days either.'
'Why's that?'
He shrugged. 'Ask him.'
Jisung raised an eyebrow. 'Asking him personal questions?'
'Fair enough. I don't think it's my place to tell you, though, sorry. But uh, I have to take a turn here.' He pointed at the street on their right as they neared a corner.
'I gotta go straight ahead, so ... I guess I'll see you tomorrow?'
'Yep! G'night, Jisung.'
'Good night.'
He continued walking on his own. The coffee he had drunk a few hours ago was slowly loosing its effect.
When he finally arrived at home, he quickly said hi to Yejun, before getting into bed and falling into a dreamless sleep.
