minho stared at the sleeping boy on his couch. what the hell was he supposed to do with that? it wasn't even that late, jesus christ.

ty

minho looked up a yejun in jisung's followers and yes, there he was, han yejun. minho sent him a short message saying his little brother fell asleep so he didn't have to worry.

he removed the notebooks from jisung's lap, reading a few poems from their project. they were quite good.

he read all of them, but there were more in the front, unrelated to their project.

minho checked on jisung, he was still asleep. he decided he could read one of them, to make up for the trouble, despite knowing he shouldn't.

Faded, flawed, phenomenal.

Frantic fever, feeling low.

Phantoms flowing around you.

Free from far away friends,
Free towards the forest.

minho frowned and counted back the days. the poem was written two days after they had first met. not to feel important, but it kind of sounded like him, even if jisung hadn't seen him walk towards the forest until after the date of writing. besides, he wasn't phenomenal. no, it wasn't about him. minho facepalmed at his embarrassing thoughts. stupid fuck.

he washed the dishes and cleaned up the kitchen. he got a blanket for jisung and gently placed it on top of him. he snored softly. great.

he found a blanket of his own, one that belonged to his mother. he smiled at the memory of her. he made himself comfortable on the couch and scribbled down a few more words for the project before putting his stuff down.

he didn't want to sleep, as usual, so he listened to music instead while staring at the ceiling. he wasn't sure how heavy his nightmares would be this time, and he didn't want jisung to see him in complete panic. he was often able to mask his distress though, so it was a small risk to take.

he listened to a few more songs before trying to sleep as well.

he was standing in the forest. sun was setting, he had to leave, and he walked and walked, but he couldn't find his way out. he felt like he had seen the same few trees for ages.

it was darker now, soon pitch black. the moon was barely reflecting light, but he could hear the branches rustling around him. oh god.
he heard breathing, right behind him, but he didn't see anyone or anything. except those eyes. there were eyes everywhere. yellow ones. big ones, small ones. above and below.

everywhere.

and then he was falling
down

and down

and down

and down.

'hyung?'

and down.

'minho? wake up!'

he shot up. jisung was hovering besides him, following him with concerned eyes. he took a shaky breath. he could feel his stare as he stood up.

'sorry, did i wake you?' he whispered.

'yes ... but it's fine,' jisung assured him.

minho made a vague noise of understanding, before fleeing the scene to get a glass of water. he quickly figured he couldn't actually hold the glass. he leaned against the counter, trying to control his breathing instead.

jisung came in to check up on him. he stood right next to him, not saying anything. his arm touched minho's, and he could probably feel the tremors going through his body.

trying to calm his breathing did not work in the slightest. if anything, it only made it worse. he wasn't there, he was still standing in the forest. there was no escape. until jisung had enough of it.

'hey, hyung, look at me.' he put his hands on minho's shoulders, standing in front of him. he looked at him with frightened eyes.

'breathe with me, in through the nose, out through the mouth.'

so he did. and after a minute or two, it started working.

when jisung saw he was calming down, he stopped his excessive breathing.

the younger pulled him into a hug, not too tight to see if he would reject it. when minho didn't move, he leaned in a bit more. the older just rested his head on jisung's shoulder.

they stood there for a while.

then minho lifted his head and looked at his companion. 'i'm sorry,' he sighed. 'i should've just kicked your ass out before sleeping.'

jisung snorted. 'like hell. it's okay though, i'm glad i was here. are you doing better?'

'yeah.'

'good. do you get these a lot?'

minho nodded. only now did he realise how close their faces were.

'oh, shit. is there no way to get rid of them?'

'i've tried...'

he looked at jisung for a respond, but he just looked ahead, awfully stoic. he was glad he didn't show pity. useless pity, like he saw in chan's eyes sometimes. he meant well, it was okay.

'i suppose you don't want to go back to sleep?'

an exasperated noise escaped minho's lips. he smiled, amused. 'not really, no.'

'yeah i thought so. we can watch a movie instead? till it's morning?'

he checked the time, it was only 4 am. 'hmm okay.'

they sat back down and took at least ten minutes to argue over what movie to watch. jisung did not think it was such a good idea to watch horror at this hour, and it was his job to convince minho of this. eventually, they agreed on something else.

half an hour later, the boy next to him was asleep once more. minho rolled his eyes, even though nobody was there to see it.

after finishing the movie, he walked around the house aimlessly. he sat in the garden, the quiet and coolness of an early morning was like heaven to him. he didn't move for a while.

around 9 am he started making breakfast for the both of them. jisung was still asleep. jesus christ. minho kicked against his leg like a toddler. 'wake up.'

'wha?'

'breakfast.'
