"Evie, Luke, get up now." I heard Mrs. Hemmings usual call from downstairs.

I looked over to see exactly 6:00am on the clock. Liz had to get up for work around the same time Luke and I had to get up for school, so she always woke us up because it was better than hearing an annoying alarm clock.

I headed to the guest room, pulling out some clothes that I usually leave here. See, Luke is my best friend, he has been since we were lonely little kids. I stayed here a lot, because he knew about my family life, and so did Liz. That's why she didn't mind letting me stay here all the time.

A lot of the time, like last night, it wasn't very good for us because we'd stay up watching movies until we finally just passed out, which was always at a very late time, leaving us very tired the next day.

It never took me long to get ready, I put my long hair into a bun and hurriedly put on whatever clothes I felt like wearing that day and occasionally I would apply a little makeup.

"Luke, you lazy twat, get up." I jumped on top of him.

This was like another routine, me being ready before him and having to come wake him up again, leaving him a good 5 to 10 minutes to get ready. He stirred around a little until I was straddling him completely. He opened his eyes and smiled at me, placing his hands on my hips for a moment.

I gave him a questionable look as his smile got bigger, he flipped us over and began tickling me. I don't know how or why I didn't see it coming, but I made a mental note to get revenge later.

"You. Àsshole." I said between breaths.

Once he finally started getting ready, I waited downstairs. I wasn't much of a breakfast person so I had nothing left to do besides wait.

"Bye Liz, have a good day."

"You too, sweetheart. Remember I love you, a lot." I giggled.

"I love you, too, second mom."

"Second mom" was something else I usually called Liz, since she practically was. I wouldn't mind calling her mom and she said she wouldn't but she always wanted Luke and I to get together, and she made sure to make the point that it would be weird if we got together and I was calling her mom as well.

I almost felt bad for her, she was so for it and it was something that would never happen. Sure, Luke was practically perfect in my book but our friendship always came first and it was enough to put any feeling that may or may not be there, aside.

Truthfully, I never put much thought into it anyways, like I said, there was no point to. We were best friends and that's what I wanted us to be forever, but we all know forever doesn't last. I was always scared of losing Luke.

Luke wasn't the most popular guy but he definitely had a small crowd and I was a nobody. We use to both be no one until high school started and he branched out.

"Snap out of it and c'mon, Peters." I heard Luke chuckle and pull me up and out towards the door.

"I hate my last name, and you know that." I crossed my arms.

"That's exactly why I call you it.." I glared at him, making him stop.

"Peters." He finished, making us both burst out into laughter.
