"Graduation is in just a few months." Marie stated excitedly as we existed the school building.

"I know, I can't wait to leave this dump and get on with my life." I added before we said our goodbyes.

"Eves?" Only one person who calls me that.

"Yes?" I turned around hesitantly to be faced with him.

"I have a favor to ask." He bit his lip. Nervous habit.

"Why would I ever help you?"

"Just hear me out?" I nodded.

"My family is coming into town, my mom wants you there."

"Why?" I asked, clearly unamused.

"Because, you're always there when they come in, how am I suppose to explain why you aren't there?"

"I don't know, Hemmings. You're the only one that knows why you stopped talking to me, you should be able to explain just fine." I said before walking off.

"Eves, please?! For my mom?"

"You're lucky I love her so much. When is it?"

"Friday."

"Can't, have a date."

"With- wait nevermind, okay, then Saturday?" I swear I saw anger flash in his eyes for a moment, I guess I was mistaken.

"See ya then."

What was I getting myself into?

-

"Calum, kill me now." I plopped down on the couch.

"Why?" He chuckled.

"I agreed to go to àssholes place because his family is coming into town and his mom wants me there since I usually am. I guess she doesn't want questions flying around even though I know she has her own. It's so hard for her to stay out of this but I can't help but feel she knows something I don't."

"Good luck with that. Uh- did he ever tell you why he stopped talking to you?"

"Nothing specific, just he got tired of me. Life friendship down the drain because he became mr popularity."

"Yeah, that sucks. Just wait it out, maybe he'll come around."

"I don't think I want him to, even if he did I would probably shut him down. He's put me through too much."

"Don't say that, Evie." By now a few tears had slipped down my cheeks.

"It just hurts. We've been through so much and it's like he wants nothing to do with me yet he's still kind of in my life just not how it use to be, not how I want him to be." I started.

"He was my everything. He protected me and made me feel okay, and pretty, and smart. He made me feel worth something. We did everything together, we knew everything about each other and one day it all just stops. He just stops. Like nothing ever happened." I finished.

"I wish I could make this all better." Calum said, pulling me into his chest like he's done many times before.

-

"Marie, I need you here as soon as possible. I have no idea what to wear." I spoke frantically into the phone.

"I'll be right over."

It was the night of my date and Derek said dress fancy but I didn't know how to dress fancy. Im jeans and a t-shirt, nothing more, nothing less.

I was so desperate I was close to calling Calum in but I know he would want me to cover up as much as possible and that wasn't what I was going for.

I did my hair and makeup as I waited for Marie so I could be practically done by the time she got here since I didn't have much time left until he arrived, hopefully she wouldn't be much longer.

The doorbell rung as I was putting my mascara wand back into the tube. I took my hair out of the braid I had it set in, and started pulling it apart so I was left with natural looking waves while running to the front door.

"Just go rummage through my closet as I finish up my hair." I stated.

It didn't take her long to pick out a simple black dress I didn't even know I had and some ankle high boots. It was a cute outfit, dressy but simple, something I still could've never put together.

I put it on, liking what I saw looking back at me in the mirror for once. I actually think I look pretty good. Thanks to Marie and a little bit of make up, of course.

The doorbell rung once again, signaling Derek was here and I wanted to beat Calum to the door but unfortunately I didn't. He was stood talking to a very scared looking Derek.

"Okay Hood, stop scaring my date."

"Hey! I'm just making sure he knows how to treat you. You're like my little sister, I'm protective."

"Believe me, I know. I appreciate it."

"Have fun." He kissed my forehead.

"You're acting more like a dad now." I winked before we both started laughing.

"Alright, let's go." I smiled at Derek.
