"We can take separate cars, I'll meet you at the restaurant." I smiled at Derek.

We had agreed to take separate cars, that way when it's done we can just immediately head back home, no questions asked.

Being completely honest, I wasn't that excited that I got dressed up and we were going to some fancy dinner place. It felt so basic, so cliche, like he put no thought into it, I hated those type of dates.

It was the first one though, and he seems like a good guy, so I will look past that as of right now. I shouldn't be so picky anyways.

I pull into the parking lot, finding a space near his and putting my heels back on before hopping out and walking over to where he was.

"Ready?"

"As I'll ever be." I kept the same smile on my face.

Derek went up to the desk, I guess to talk about all the reservation stuff as I sat in the waiting area, doing just that, waiting. I looked around the place, wasn't my kind of thing, I could tell right from the jump.

Once he was done, we were lead to an overdone booth, too many flowers and decorations. You eat here, this isn't an home improvement store. I once again, told myself not to be picky and ignored it.

We didn't get to really start talking until the waiter came over, asking us what we wanted. Derek had ordered for himself, but also took it upon himself to order for me as well, which I despised. I hope he wasn't some controlling person, I shouldn't be judging right away, he's fine.

"She'll have a glass of wine and your most famous salad with extra chicken, on the side."

"You must bring girls here often." I joked once the waiter walked away, but I suppose he didn't find my joke funny which only made me think it was that much more true.

"So, tell me about yourself."

"There isn't much to tell."

"Come on, Eves, start from the beginning." I almost cringed at the nickname, the nickname I hated anyone but Luke using.

"Well, I grew up in a broken family. We aren't originally from here, my parents moved my sister and I out here to get away from the rest of the family and their bad past when I was really young. I was so young that my sister and I were never close, she left the second she could, which I don't blame her. My parents are bad people to put it in simple terms. I'm just glad I'm away from them." I slightly smiled, still very thankful for all Luke, and now Calum have done.

"Is that why you and Luke are, I'm sorry, were so close?"

"Yeah, we've been friends since I moved in and I got really close with his mom too and instead of going through all the legal shít and me probably getting moved into a foster home, she just let me stay there all the time. Thus are friendship strengthening even more."

"Then it crumbled." My jaw clenched.

"Then it crumbled." I said bitterly.

Does this guy have no sympathy? Again, I looked past yet another thing. I didn't need to let Luke ruin anything else, he was an irrelevant topic at this point anyways.

"Besides that, personally about me, I enjoy cold weather and love movies, thought I pretend to hate love. I can't decide on a favorite color because there's too many. I switch up my style every other day, and I still have yet to accept myself for who I am. I would rather be nice to everyone, even if they're mean to me, then know I have hurt someone, again, even if they've hurt me but I guess I'm kind of hypocritical because I go against that a lot."

"You're an interesting person, Eves. I like it."

"So, tell me about yourself-" My phone ringing interrupted us.

I looked up at him apologetically, it was an unknown number so I almost didn't answer but decided to excuse myself momentarily to anyways.

"Baaaaaabe" I heard someone slur on the other line.

"Luke?!"

"I'm at your apartment but Calum won't let me in, and he won't tell me where you are." He whined.

"Why are you looking for me? And why are you drunk?"

"Because I miss you, and because I love you."

Hearing him say that hurt, it felt like years since the last time we said either of those lines to each other but I didn't want to let him trap me back under his spell yet he always did.

"Please come home, Eves, I'm begging. I need to see you." He got serious for a minute, I sighed heavily.

"Stay where you are, I'll be right there."

I breathed in and out for a couple minutes, now realizing I was going to have to cut this date short and come up with a better excuse then "I'm going because my ex best friend who is a douche to me, needs me right now."

I came up with a silly and basic excuse, ready to replay it over and over, hoping he wouldn't catch onto me lying because I wasn't the best at lying sometimes.

"Derek." I ran back over to him frantically.

"My friend called me to tell me Calum called him, really sick, but my friends busy. I need to go take care of him and make sure he's alright, he just really didn't want to cut the date short, neither do I and-" I rambled.

"Hey, it's okay. We can do this another time, go on. Keep me updated, I hope he's alright. Get home safe."

I guess I was letting Luke ruin my night.
