"Why the fuck were you even here?" I heard someone whisper-shout.
I jolted awake from the hospital bed, rubbing my eyes and looking around. I was almost disappointed when I realized Luke wasn't still next to me but then I saw him standing to the side with Calum.
"Oh, hi guys." I smiled awkwardly.
"Luke here was just leaving." Calum patted him on the back, trying to escort him out.
I don't know if Calum thought I was dumb or what but I could sense the tension between the two and I didn't like it. Calum is my best friend now and I don't need him in unnecessary drama.
"Wait, can I talk to Luke alone for just one second?"
Calum didn't look pleased at all but I know he would never deny me of something I asked for, he couldn't really, he had no say. If I wanted to talk to someone, I would, but I knew he just wants best for me.
He huffed, walking over to the door, giving me one last look as if to ask if I was sure and I nodded. I waited for him to leave before patting the bed for Luke to sit down.
"Luke, I still know you better than you know yourself and I can tell you're beating yourself up over this, don't."
I still had so much anger for the guy sat in front of me but I refused to let him leave here thinking any of this was his fault, because it wasn't, it was my stupid decisions that got me here.
"Evie, if I didn't-"
"Don't. I got myself here, Luke. Just be glad it was nothing major and move on, okay?"
"Besides, things can go back to normal after this." I added.
"I don't want them to, but..."
I let silence take over us for a moment, tired of all the "buts" and "you don't understand" shít he gives me. I didn't really know what to say but this was yet again, another goodbye.
"I'll always love you, Luke." I sighed as we stood up and hugged.
"I'll always love you more, Eves." He squeezed me a little tighter.
I didn't know what this was and I never did because one second he hated me and the next he was doing this, I suppose maybe he just got a kick out of confusing the living hell out of me.
"Send Calum back in here, please." I whispered as he left.
I got back on the bed, flipping through the tv channels again, pretending none of that ever happened, and maybe that's for the best, pretending none of this has ever happened.
"You ready to go home?" Calum said with too much excitement in his voice as he entered.
I nodded with a smile on my face, maybe things are starting to get better and I am just not realizing. I have great friends, a great place to live, I don't have to put up with my family anymore.
Besides the accident and all the drama with Luke, things were actually going pretty good, that scared me a little, good things never ever seem to last at all.

Calum made me rest at home for another day before finally letting me go back to school. He was a very overprotective person but we had grown so close that I could see why.
"Evie, hurry up before we're late." Calum shouted.
I tossed my jacket over my shoulder and grabbed my bag before running out the door to catch up with Calum. I was always thankful for how close we lived to the school so we could get a could 30 minutes extra of sleep.
I jumped in the passenger side of his car, getting situated while waiting on him to get in. I started thinking about school and how it's almost over in a couple months. Time had really gone by fast, I was almost done with high school!
"My parents want to meet you by the way." Calum nonchalantly said, breaking me from my thoughts.
"What?" I squeaked.
He looked at me and chuckled, "it's not that big a deal" he said, but it was. How do his parents even know about me? Why do they want to meet me? I get so anxious over just the thought of meeting new people.
"Calum! I'm awful at meeting new people, and now just people, your parents."
"They just wanted me to invite you over for a family dinner tomorrow night. You don't really have to come but I would very much enjoy if you did.
"Fine." I huffed.
Once we had arrived at school, I was again, waiting on Calum to get out so we could walk to class together. I sometimes felt bad, like I took up too much of his time, not leaving him able to do much else.
Does he even hangout with his old friends anymore? Who are his old friends? I don't know much about his life previous to before he came into mine.
"Calum, who did you hangout with before me?"
He looked taken aback from my question and like he was in deep thought over something I thought was a simple question.
As we walked by the popular crowd he eyed them for a moment before looking down. I started piecing two and two together and realized that's how Calum and Luke knew each other.
"Them?" He nodded.
"That's why they don't bother me. I was really into the group, that's how I know everyone."
"I never really saw you with them when I passed by here though?"
"Because I tried to stay away from them after a while. Sure, a couple of them are okay like Ashton, Michael, and well, Luke was okay."
"Speaking of Ashton, he's walking towards us." I whispered, navigating away from the previous conversation.
