I was on my way to meeting up with Derek, he had called once again and asked me out for tea, since I despise coffee, and how could I say no? Besides, he seemed like a sweet guy.

I didn't exactly know what to wear, sure we were just meeting up for a drink, but did I want to impress or be as casual as possible? Of course, me being me, I went with black skinny jeans and a crop top, with my favorite ankle boots to make me look more put together.

"Hi." I greeted, hugging me after he stood up.

"I hope I'm not late." I said aloud as I sat down, realizing he got here before me.

"Not at all. I ordered you a raspberry tea, since you seem like that kind of girl." He smiled.

"That's crazy, raspberry tea is actually my favorite."

We talked for a while more and it was mind blowing how much we seemed to have in common, I was finally enjoying myself for once. Don't get me wrong, I very much enjoy time with Calum and our mutual friends but it's nice to be friends with someone outside of the group.

It has been a little over an hour of us talking and I couldn't believe myself, that I was finally branching out. Normally, I wouldn't have even agreed to this, or I would come and make an excuse to leave.

"So, you don't have to answer this but-"

"What happened to Luke and I?" I cut him off, noticing the hesitation in his voice.

"Well, we were best friends and now we aren't. We were inseparable and one day he just got tired of me, I suppose, and ended the friendship." I explained after he nodded.

"You guys were friends for ages though, weren't you? Isn't it a little strange he just "randomly" stops being your friend?"

"Not really, unfortunately, I think the popularity finally got to him."

I had been spending a lot of time with Derek but I had yet to introduce him to my group, so at lunch I invited him over to our table.

"Is it okay if he sits with us?" I asked, everyone nodded their head but Calum seemed hesitant.

I wasn't feeling well today and I had thrown up this morning so I kept zoning in and out, leaving everyone else to talk.

"You alright?" Derek whispered.

"Just not feeling well."

"Let's get you home then."

"No, no. That's not necessary, you don't have to leave for me." I put my hand up, as to stop him.

"Really, it's fine." He smiled.

We snuck out, going as unseen as possible because I didn't need Calum, or anyone for that matter seeing us leave. I noticed Luke's eyes trained on us as we left the cafeteria but I acted like I took no notice to it.

"I'll sign myself out, then we can go." I said, hurrying into the office to explain my situation.

"Alright, let's go."

-

Once we were back at the apartment, I instantly went to my room to change into something comfier. Derek said he had somewhere to go but would be back very shortly, which sort of confused me but I dropped it.

I took blankets and some of the old movies I had watched one too many times into the living room since Derek said he'd be back soon, I didn't want to fall asleep or something, yet.

He came back quicker than expected with a couple bags in his hands and once he saw the confusion written all over my face he started emptying them.

"Everything you could possibly need."

And by that he meant, a lot of candy, drinks, and good movies. I wasn't complaining, this sounded like a good time, which I was hoping it would turn out to be.

I let him decide which movie, he placed in some comedy before joining me on the couch. By the end of the movie we could hardly breathe from how much we had been laughing but I was starting to feel tired.

Midway through the second movie I shuffled towards him and rest my head on his chest while he slung his arm around me and I was asleep quicker than I thought I would be.

"Eves, wake up." I heard Calum whisper.

I wanted to glare at him, knowing I hated when anyone else used that nickname but it slipped from his occasionally and he meant no harm so I let it slide.

"Why did you leave and not tell me? Also, with Derek?" He asked, sitting beside me as I noticed Derek was gone.

"I wasn't feeling well, still. He offered to take me home, we came back here and watched movies."

"I come home to find you cuddled up on the couch together."

"And? What's the big deal?!"

Calum groaned, placing his head in his hands. I assumed he had something to tell me but didn't want to or was too scared, but I wasn't in the mood for it.

"Just be careful, alright?"

"Why are you being like this?" I stood up, suddenly very frustrated.

"I just want to make sure you don't get hurt, Evie!"

"I don't need some protector, I can fend for myself."

"Okay, if he hurts you like Luke did, I hope you still have that same attitude." He instantly placed his hand over his mouth as I widened my eyes in shock.

He knows I hate bringing up that subject unless I have to or I am feeling okay, he knows no one could ever hurt me as much as he did, and he still used it against me.

I shook my head, blinking back tears as he started throwing around apologies but I stomped off to my room, slamming and locking the doors. I didn't want to be bothered at this point, not by him, anyways.
