I was at the grocery store, picking up some snacks for myself and a couple things Calum had wanted when I bumped into someone, I turned around quickly to apologize to see it was Mrs. Hemmings and I was too speechless to open my mouth and say anything.
As soon as she saw it was me she engulfed me in a hug and I felt a familiar feeling of the past, almost making me wish things were still the way they were.
"I'm not going to questioned what happened, darling. I just miss you, so much."
"Miss you, too, momma hems."
And I did. I missed waking up to her yelling our names to get us up for school, or her calling us down for whatever reason, whether it be for breakfast or to tell us something, I miss it all.
"He's been so sad, Evie. Please stop by, for me?" I didn't understand why he was "sad," especially when he never seemed to be sad at school.
"Mrs. Hemmings, I just... nevermind, I'll stop by."

I made my way to Luke's, even though I should be heading back to Calum's but instead I decided to stop by here, now. I still don't know exactly why I agreed to this, I don't think he wants to see me but of course I just still have to care about him, so, I want to make sure he's alright.
I hesitantly made my way to the front door, standing in front of it for a moment before knocking. It took a minute but he finally opened the door and became face to face with me.
"Oh my god, Eves." He rushed towards me, wrapping his arms around me.
I was confused, I expected him to be rude or mean, push me away even? Did Luke all of the sudden just become moody or something? One second he's throwing glares my way and the next he's doing this.
"Luke, what are you doing?" My voice cracks.
"We can't. At least not yet, Evie, you'll understand one day." He whispered to me before pulling away.
He looked like he wanted to explain so much to me but my phone rang, interrupting him. I was almost glad, I needed to get away from him, I couldn't do this.
"Hello?"
"Are you almost home?" I heard Calum's voice.
"Yeah, I'll be there shortly." I responded, looking at Luke and backing away.
"Love you, bye!" I hung up the phone.
I could tell by the look on his face that he wanted me to stay, that he wanted to stop me. I still knew him very well but apparently not enough to figure out what the hell was going on.

Sally hasn't even looked my way these past couple of weeks, of course, I wasn't complaining though. For a while, I had waited for her to do something, figuring she probably had some sort of plan up her sleeve but I think she's finally left me alone, for once.
"Hi, Evie." I heard someone say behind me.
I turned around to see a guy from my math class, dressed in mostly black, just standing there. I remembered his name to be Derek and I believe he is the quote on quote "bad boy" of the school.
"Oh, hi." I smiled.
"I was wondering if I could sit with you at lunch today?" He did this cute half smile.
Normally I would've made up some type of an excuse to get away from him or to not have to say yes, but I was trying out this whole "friends" thing so, I figured, why not?
"Yeah, sure. C'mon."
When we arrived at the lunch table I could see the skeptical look on Calum's face, even on Marie's, I guess Josh was out today. I ignored it and sat down, introducing Derek.
"Guys, this is Derek. Derek, this is Calum and Marie. Usually a guy named Josh is here too, but I guess he's out."
I heard Calum mutter and "I know" under his breath, signaling that he probably very well knew who this guy was, but I once again ignored it.
A few other people had accompanied our table along the way, which resulted in me just having a one on one conversation with Derek, I didn't mind, he was an interesting guy.
The rest of lunch was filled with us getting to know each other on a basic level. Favorite color, genre of music, food, etc. I'm glad I am finally branching out and talking to new people, maybe it wouldn't be so bad after all, or would it?
