He grabs his sequencer.

Rose: When has it done that?

This was very odd. He doesn't know what to do with the voices on the sequencer or what the password is to even talk to them. They can somehow speak to him, but he can't speak to them.
As if the voices were bad enough, the Tv emitted a familiar voice.
[TV] This is Peridot. Transmitting on all frequencies from abandoned crystal system colony planet Earth to Yellow Diamond. My mission has been compromised. My escort and informant are gone, and I am now stranded. Please send help.
Great, Peridot is trying to call for help on the frequency servers. Steven needs to stop it for two different reasons. One, to stop Peridot's signal from reaching Yellow Diamond.
And two, if it's being transmitted to all frequencies, there's a chance of it reaching to the Garden, Steven can't let anything broadcast to there yet. Luckily, it needs time to download and he has a chance to stop it.
