Okay, I had forgotten to explain this better. During the first story when Pink left the Crystal Gems, there was a period where the gems did not talk to Steven, especially Pearl. Of course, they hated him before Garnet and Amethyst became sensible and became neutral with him.
This Chapter takes place during that period in the timeline.
3rd Person P.O.V.
Steven went through the boring process of the start of his life with the gems. You know, Rose Quartz saying great things, then she leaves, Pearl Garnet and Amethyst hating Steven, that stuff. With Steven already knowing what's coming, this got him to think about something else.
What can he do besides wait? He can't just do everything he has done within a single day, right? Anyways, he knows a lot of things he can do but he has to wait.
Why he has to wait, isn't because of time paradoxes (because they're impossible here), but because he hasn't thought it all out yet. He has everything he needs: The armor, the watch, the blaster, and the sequencer. The only thing that's stopping him from getting to Homeworld is because he doesn't have a way to get there.
The Warps to Homeworld are destroyed. Steven then tried to jog his memory on what happened before he got to Homeworld. He remembers, it's a chain of events that play out like dominoes toppling.
He has to free Lapis then let her flee, only to get caught by Jasper and Peridot, defeat Jasper and let Peridot flee and crash the ship on Earth, interrogate Peridot about the Cluster, stop the Cluster with the drill, fix Peridot and Lapis' point of view on each other, unbubble Bismuth and fix her point of view on Rose Quartz, defeat Jasper and her corrupted army, poof the rubies and steal their ship, stop Aquamarine from stealing humans from Earth, then finally get to Homeworld and ambush the Diamonds.
And to think, it only took 4 months for Steven to accomplish all of that. The most difficult thing for Steven to do is to wait for one event to target the other. But there are some events he could prevent.
He could prevent Jasper's rebellion but locking her up, like he should've done a long time ago. Go to the Garden and talk to Spinel, break the news to her as gently as he could and prevent her from the injector. And... Moonlight.
The whole issue with her started with her vengeance against the Diamonds, until she met Steven which caused her motives to alter. He needs to make sure nobody could reach her bubble. Should he really make sure she stay in the bubble?
It's not entirely the most moral option since it's turned her mind into shambles. And she sounded like a sweet gem before the Diamonds crushed her spirit and left her with nothing but anger. Maybe... maybe he could try something else.
Maybe he could mold her into a friend rather than another loose end for him to tie. If Jade and Kunzite are able to get her on their side, he should be able to, as well. Like Jade told Steven, her personality is her weakness.
A part of doing that is using her vengeance on the Diamonds. But, how could he get to her if she's in a bubble on Homeworld-- Oh wait.
(Steven) Rose?
Rose: Yes, Steven?
(Steven) Do you remember what Moonlight's gem looked like?
Rose: I remember everything. Yes, I know what her gem looks like. Why?
(Steven) Can you teleport to Homeworld and bring me her bubble? She's being held in White Diamond's room.
Rose: Might I ask why you want her? Isn't she a bad gem?
(Steven) I could make her change for the better, before it's too late.
Rose: I suppose I can retrieve her gemstone. Should I unbubble her on my way back?
