3rd Person P.O.V.
Present time
Today is Steven's birthday, not a lot of people know that. Only Phoebe and Howard are aware of this day. He is 21 years old.
He didn't plan on celebrating his birthday, he hardly ever does. It's not his official birthday, he doesn't remember anything before he was carved by those men. This day was more about when Phoebe found him and took him to her house.
He was glad she's alive this year, he didn't want to spend another day of the year mourning over her. Speaking of Phoebe, Steven assured that she would be protected. He has a hidden room underneath the house that no one knows about, not even Howard.
He made her stay in there until Moonlight was dealt with, he did not want Moonlight getting to her. He may not be able to handle her dying again, not today especially. He had Yellow Diamond's spare armor equipped and ready for battle.
He has two vials of the Diamond essences mixed together. He cannot drink more than two vials for multiple reasons.
1: If he drinks more than two, it would result in an over dose and it could lead to a disaster.
2: The human body cannot handle that much power all at once, he could go in cardiac arrest.
3: The substance is very sugary. Like all sugary items/drinks, it's very addicting and Steven doesn't need a addiction right now.
4: His strength would be uncontrollable he could accidentally kill/shatter someone.
5: Moonlight would take notice of Steven's sudden new strength and think he's gotten stronger or he's got super powers, he doesn't want her to get any ideas.
He should be ready for her. She's coming to him today and today will probably be her last day of fighting. Jade told him to use her personality against her.
He read three different articles about Moonlight. Her creation process, her battles, and her interactions with the Diamonds and being destabilized. She didn't like the fact that she was considered a weapon, and had her emotions ignored.
It's probably why she liked Steven so much, he gave her the attention she always wanted and he gave her a challenge rather than being a pushover. He felt sorry for her past but she needed to be stopped at least. He was going to talk to her when he defeats her.
Of course, he isn't just going to forget what she put him through. Three days in a room on a chair has completely changed him. Who knows what else happened to him after the first day?
Today, he has an appointment with a gem captain named Nephrite. She and her crew were former corrupted gems, he remembered them, they were those centipedes he fought once. He used an empty Cookie-Cat mini-refrigerator, a bucket of water, and a lightbulb.
(Nephrite) Steven Universe! You've arrived.
(Steven) Hello Nephrite.
(Nephrite) You may not remember me but--
(Steven) I do remember you. You were one of the corrupted gems I fought 4 years ago.
(Nephrite) Right. My crew and I had recently heard that your conflict with Moonlight and her upcoming assault. So, we figure we should help you.
(Steven) How?
(Nephrite) Since she has a ship, maybe it's fair if you had one, too. So we're lending you one of ours. Nothing big or small, a decent size ship that'll damage that ship of hers, hopefully.
(Steven) Thank you. I'm sure it'll help.
(Nephrite) Before we can use it, I have to teach you how to use it.
