26 - A Trip To Celebrate The Wedding Anniversary.

Taehyung looked at the mirror as he got dressed for work. One thing had been bugging him for few days and he was sure that the same concern must be in Jungkook's mind too.

He was deep in thoughts when the bathroom door opened and Jungkook walked out. The latter only had to glance at his husband to know what kind of a mood he was in.

"What are you thinking about?" Jungkook asked in a soft voice as he dried his wet hair with a towel.

"Nothing." Taehyung answered with a soft smile.

He knows they have to talk about it some point but didn't want to upset his husband's mood early in the morning. Jungkook however, was already clued in on the matter. Same thought had been bugging him for few days too.

"It's about the trip, isn't it?" Jungkook asked with a soft sigh and Taehyung responded with a small nod.

Jungkook didn't say anything and proceeded to get dressed for work. Taehyung watched for few second and followed suit too.

Their wedding anniversary was soon approaching and they have this tradition of taking a week off to celebrate that. They go to Jeju island for the entire week, just the two of them, the beach and nature.

That had been their tradition every year and both of them look forward to that quality time so much. But this year, they are worried about requesting leave as it might cause some suspicions.

Taehyung watched as his husband walked to the living room after getting prepared for work. He felt sad looking at Jungkook's disheartened aura and stopped him by gently grabbing his wrist.

"Hey.." Taehyung said in a soft voice but Jungkook didn't meet his eyes. Instead, he was looking at the floor.

Taehyung put two fingers under Jungkook's chin and gently raised his head. He gave a soft smile and waited till his husband gives one in return. Jungkook of course couldn't hold out much longer and smiled back.

Taehyung softly pulled the other in for a kiss and Jungkook responded with same pace. It was not rushed or heated, just soft and comforting. Exactly the kind they both needed right now.

Taehyung moved his lips gently against the other's and Jungkook leaned in to Taehyung's chest a bit. His hands were woven around Taehyung's shoulders while the latter had his hands around Jungkook's waist.

After few minutes of gentle makeout, they pulled away from each other. Jungkook softly wiped the corner of Taehyung's mouth where a bit of moisture can be seen and Taehyung fixed the other's shirt which had been crumpled a bit by his own hands.

"Don't worry, we'll go this time too. Just have to say two different excuses when asking for leave." Taehyung said in a gentle voice and after few seconds of consideration, Jungkook nod his head in agreement.

"Namjoon already knows that I take leave around these days to spend a vacation with my husband. You should say something else." Taehyung said as they both walked out of the house.

"Like what?"

"Hmm.. how about a family emergency? you could be going overseas to see some relation?"

Taehyung gave few ideas but Jungkook's face looked even more troubled at that.

"I don't like lying." Jungkook said in a small voice and Taehyung felt a sting in his heart.

He was also feeling bad for making Jungkook lie when he clearly knows how much his husband hates it.

"I'm sorry for making you do this, koo." Taehyung said in a regretful voice and Jungkook immediately snapped his head at the other.

"Oh no, no Tae. Don't be like that." Jungkook said as he cupped Taehyung's face in both his palms. "You are not making me do anything. We are in this together, remember?"

Taehyung gave a soft smile and nod few times, making Jungkook's clenched heart feel relieved. He never wanted to make his husband feel bad.

After few more minutes, they both got on to their respective vehicles and drove to work.

Taehyung knocked on the door of Namjoon's office and walked in when he heard a 'come in'. Namjoon looked up from the paper he was reading and gave a smile to Taehyung.

"Good morning, Namjoon."

"Morning Taehyung, what brings you here so early?"

"I.. uhh.. wanted to request for leave." Taehyung said in a tentative voice and Namjoon immediately looked at the desk calender on his table.

"Ohh... it's that time of the year already? Sure, sure. One week right?"

"Yeah. Starting from the 12th."

"No issue. Enjoy your time with your family, Taehyung. Tell your husband I said 'hi'."

"I will. Thanks Namjoon."

"No problem."

Taehyung walked out of the room and sent a message to Jungkook, informing him about the conversation. As he walked in to the department, Taehyung saw Jungkook reading the message but he was disheartened to see the nervous look on Jungkook's face.

Taehyung wished he could be the one to give a fake reason as he hated making Jungkook do this. But since Namjoon is already aware about his leave reason, it had to be Jungkook.

Jungkook looked up and gave a soft smile as Taehyung sat down on his chair and the latter returned it too. They had agreed for Jungkook to go and ask for leave in the afternoon, the reason being that he had to go overseas to visit a distant relative who had gotten sick.

Namjoon looked up from his work when Jungkook entered his room. He had anyway been meaning to have a small chat with the latter so it all worked out.

"Oh.. Jungkook. Just the man I was looking for." Namjoon said in a cheery voice, making Jungkook gave a small smile as he sat on the chair.

Jungkook was just about to speak up but unfortunately, Namjoon was faster than him.

"Listen, Taehyung will be on leave for a week from 12th this month. I want you to handle his team in his absence."

Jungkook was shocked and it took him few seconds to find his voice.

"W-what?!"

"I know, I know. I'm sorry for the short notice. You probably wouldn't have to do anything much cause Jimin is quiet capable of handling the work. But I want you to sort of overlook everything. It'll be good in the long run to get familiar with Taehyung's team members."

Jungkook felt his throat tightening at that but he had to say something since Namjoon was waiting for his reply.

"S-sure. No problem." Jungkook said with much difficulty but Namjoon was not that familiar with him so he didn't catch the dejected tone.

"Knew I could count on you." Namjoon said with a beaming smile and Jungkook managed to have a convincing smile too. "Oh, sorry, you were here to ask something?"

Jungkook asked for something random, mentally patting his own back for coming up with an acceptable excuse. They talked for few more minutes before Jungkook came out of the room.

Taehyung looked at him hopefully when Jungkook enter the room but the latter just shock his head with a look of dismay. Taehyung groaned internally at that and both couldn't focus on work after that.

Taehyung knew very well how sad his husband is so all he could think about is about going home, take Jungkook in to his arms and make him forget about everything.
