CHAPTER 8

Like what my boss instructed me, maaga akong pumasok sa trabaho. Sabi niya kase 6AM dapat nasa office na daw ako. Hindi ko nga alam kung bakit ganong kaaga. Mukhang balak yata ng boss ko na ako ang pagbukasin ng opisina.

            Well, let's just see kung anong meron. Papasok na ako sa office ng tinanong ko yung guard kung may tao na ba sa loob, "Excuse me, Is there anyone inside?"

"Yes Mam, actually they are waiting for you."

Waiting for me? Ako nalang yung wala? Ibig sabihin, hindi lang para sa akin yung good news! Baka kasama din sa Matthew? "Thank you Sir."

            I rushed into the conference room, sabi kase ni boss, dun niya daw ako ime-meet. Pagka-bukas ko ng pinto, nakita ko si boss, tapos nandun din yung 3 pang interns, pero wala si Matthew. "Good Morning Everyone!" I greeted.

"Good Morning Miss Arevalo, please have a seat."

"Thank you Sir!"

"Okay, let's start. Maybe you are clueless, or worried about why did I personally called you last night and told you there's good news for you. Supposedly, you must fulfill your task as an intern for about 4 months, but, your schools and our company had an agreement that if you passed the assessments based on how you do your work, we can lessen your days as an intern. After our assessments, it appeared that the four of our interns passed, and you guys are those four interns. Congratulations!"

Lahat kaming apat speechless. Hindi namin inakala na 2 months palang matatapos na yung pagiging intern namin. Sobrang saya ko talaga! Pero sayang hindi kasama si Matthew, sabay sana kaming nagce-celebrate ngayon. Pero okay lang yon, may 2 months pa naman bago ako bumalik ng London, magkakasama pa kami ng matagal.

Akala namin tapos na ang announcement, "One more thing guys, as part of the agreement, you need to go back immediately to your schools, to settle something related about your internship. Miss Arevalo and Miss Wagner, the two of you have the farthest schools from here, United Kingdom and Germany, so we have already booked your flights today at 12 noon and 2pm respectively, that's why we called for this meeting as early as possible."

Nagulat ako na kailangan na naming umalis agad, "But Sir? Why do we need to go back early? Can't we just stay for a week, or maybe days?"

"I'm so sorry Miss Arevalo, It's the rule of the agreement and it's the rule of your school."

"Rule? Para naman kaming aso nito? Basta niyo nalang kami itataboy?"

"I'm sorry Miss Arevalo? What are you saying?" napa-Tagalog tuloy ako sa sobrang inis.

            Bakit naman kase ganito? Biglaan naman yata kaming pauuwiin? Masaya ako na tapos na ang internship ko, pero bakit namin kailangang umalis agad? Bakit ngayon na? Bakit?

"What I am saying Sir is that, why is it so urgent?

"Again Miss Arevalo, It's the rule. Just follow it. If you think that we are throwing you out, you're wrong. It is our pleasure to have your brilliant skills in our company, and we thank you for that. And one more, your school is waiting for your appearance in three days."

"Bu..But...Huuh" I sighed. Wala na akong nagawa, kailangan ko ng umalis pabalik ng London ngayong araw. Ano ba naman kaseng rule yon? Bakit kase ganong kabilis? Marami pa akong gustong gawin, marami pa akong gustong sabihin, meron pa akong gustong makasama.
