Chapter 38

I was in the car, replaying all that has occurred in the last hour. From  I got the call straight till I left the prison after receiving news that left me angrier and confused than ever.  I still couldn't believe what she told me but at the same time, I had the burning sensation to find out because there is a possibility. Marcus and I never questioned each other about each other's past until that past made its way to our future.

Madison is apart of his past and present and might even be apart of his future in the form of a little girl.

I let out a frustrated sigh.

Why can't we leave Madison in our past? Why does she always find a way of popping up again?

I wanted so hard to leave her there. To move on, I thought that after I confronted her I would be set free. Now I wish that I never went.

"Are you okay?" James asked, he hasn't said anything since we left. He heard everything, he was also shocked when Madison mentioned a child.

"No"

"Are you gonna tell him? "

Was I? I honestly didn't want to, I wanted so bad to wake up from this bad dream. These past few months just felt like a nightmare.  And it looked like this nightmare wasn't gonna end anytime soon. I wanted so bad to go home and act like I never knew about this child, hope that someway I can escape this. That Madison would get tired of her games and leave us alone. But I knew that even if I wanted to never mention this meeting ever again. It was not my choice, I would be such a selfish person if I never told him about this child that could be his. That girl would grow up without knowing her father and I couldn't be the cause of that.

"Yes"

When I reached home, Marcus thankfully wasn't there but a package was courtesy of Madison. I went to open the small package, wondering who Madison had on the outside working for her. Her mother could be a possibility but based on my knowledge, they were not on speaking terms after her dad died. Who could it be?

The package included a small note and some documents.

Dear Marcus,

If you are reading this, I'm dead. I'm joking not dead, I hope :). Well, you're supposed to get this package if anything happens to me. I don't really know how to put this but you have a daughter.  She is eight years old at the time I'm writing this, a wonderful, smart kid just like her dad. I know you might be shocked or you even don't believe me but please be a little open-minded. You also might be wondering how this happened, I don't really know if you remembered that night, you were pretty wasted. I know that I'm such a horrible person for taking advantage of you but I love you so much and knew that I would never get an opportunity like this again. I found out a few weeks later that I was pregnant, I planned on telling you but I didn't know how you would react. You were already dealing with your breakup with Olivia, so I thought that I would tell you after. As you can see it's eight years after and I'm still waiting for the perfect moment. But now I'm tired of waiting for you to see me and it's unfair on Megan to not have her father in her life.

So I hope you don't hate me

                                                                                                                                      Love Madison

She took advantage of a drunk man then blamed him for being absent from a  child's life that he knew nothing about.

I glanced at my watch, it was two o'clock, still early. Marcus won't be home for a couple of hours which will give me time to investigate.

I told Marcus I was gonna visit a friend, James gave me a side-eye. It was a small lie but I couldn't just tell him I was gonna visit his long last daughter.

We took an hour to arrived at the location, I decided just to go with James alone. He was the only one that knew about it and I didn't trust anyone else.

We drove up a long driveway, it seems to go on forever. When we turned the last corner, a beautiful one-story house how came into view. From where we parked I could see toys in the backyard. I walked toward the door and rang the bell, it seems to echo through the house. After a few minutes, the door opened. A woman that looked like she was in her late thirties open the door.

"Hello, how can I help you" she asked

I gave her the letter per Madison's instructions.

"Oh, your Marcus' wife" she said, opening the door wider so we could enter.

"I guess Madison is in some serious trouble"

"Yes she is "

"Well that explains why our funds got cut off a few weeks ago" she showed us to the living room where she offered us water

"I assume your here for Morgan"

"I'm just here to see her, I just found out about this hours ago and I don't believe that her child is my husband's. He doesn't know about her yet and I plan to tell him when I get home, I just want to see her first "

"That's understandable"  There was ackward pause, there was still a lot of questions I wanted to ask.

"Is she here"

"Yes, she's in the backyard playing with my son"

"Oh, how long have you been talking care of her"

"Since she was two, so eight years now"Kiera said,

"Okay, how often does Madison visit" I asked, I wondered how big of an influence does Madison has on her daughter because Kiera seems sosweet and gentle. Even if Morgan wasn't Marcus' child, I didn't want Madison to have a big influence on Morgan's life because of how destructive she is.

"Sometimes once a month but sometimes she just pops up randomly. "

"Okay"

"Would you like to see her now " she asked, I did but I didn't. I was hoping that we would talk until the time ran out and I would have an excuse not to see her.

"Yes" it was better if I just go this over with

She lead us towards the backyard, we were w good distance away from Morgan and Arthur, Kiera's son. Morgan had beautiful black hair like Marcus, it was shoulder length and seemed to glistened in the sun. She was pale like Madison and it made her dark hair stand out even more. She turned around when she saw that there was company . A gasped escaped from me when I saw her face, she looked so much like Marcus it was unbelievable. It was too much to take in, she looked at James and I. She even had Marcus' grey eyes but hers seem even more magestic, it seem to suck you in.

The resemblance was too much and my hopes that this wasn't Marcus' child started to crumble.

"We need to go now " I told Kiera

"Wait, don't you want to meet her " she asked

"That won't be needed " I said, she showed us out. I took one last look at Morgan before I left.

When I reached the comfort of my car , I let the tears fall.

That was Marcus' child.
