Chapter 12

Every time I go to the club, Marcus is there. It's unfair really, I can't go somewhere and he isn't there. The club was my thing, the place I went to escape my shitty life and my father's disapproval. When I'm dancing, I'm free. I don't have to worry about anything, I just live. I quickly made my way out of the club and back home. It's funny how I call this place home now.

I got for bed and everything, not wanting to look suspicious.

Fifteen minutes later he arrived home, I was currently reading a novel when he walked into the room and then it hit me. 

Today I came back to the office to pick up some paperwork and I saw Octavia leaving the building. Was it coincidence, maybe she worked there and maybe she didn't. Then I remembered that Marcus told me not to see her again, what's up with that. I wanted answers and I was going to get them.

I already knew who Octavia really was but I didn't know why she approached me knowing that I was her ex-boyfriend's wife and why she was at the office today.

"Marcus " I called out for him seeing that he was no longer in the room.

"Yess" he answered as he walked out of the bathroom, his towel wrapped around his waist, he looks divine. 

"What was Octavia, you know my friend that I met in France, doing at your office today" his eyes widen, the blood started to drain from his face giving him that pale look.

"Uh.. " he started

"She..she " he started to stutter, the guilty look on his face made me assume the worst. Did they-

"She came to talk" he finally said.

"Talk but how, you guys don't know each other, do you? " I put a confused look on my face

"I.. We dated a few years back" I acted surprised when I heard him say that.

"You dated?" I asked

"Yes once, never again "

"Of course you're not gonna date again, you've already been tied down," I said and he clucked.

"So what were you guys talking about "

"About stuff "

"What stuff "

"Just stuff," he said and I let it rest for now.

He did answer why she was there but in the process more things became unclear.

The morning I wake up a little earlier than I usually do, my first day at work, my first as the new CEO of my father's company, I mean my company. I jump out of bed and rushed to the bathroom, I am so excited. After my morning routine, I got dressed and went down for breakfast.

Marcus' cook Gary that came four times a week, already finished breakfast and was working on dinner. When he saw me approach he started preparing a dish for me.

"I'm surprised to see you up this early, Mrs. Knight" normally I would wake up minutes before Gary left.

"Today is my first day at work in a long time" a year and a half ago father let me go, after working for him during high school, during college, and after college. I was so miserable after he did it, after so many years of putting my blood, sweat and tears into the company he let me go and just because I was becoming too 'emotionally attached'.

After months of just sitting around doing nothing and feeling sorry for myself, a friend suggested we do some charity work and that led me to Haiti and the rest is history.
 
"That's great news, Mrs. Knight "

"Rebecca "

"Excuse me "

"I told you to call me Rebecca," I said and smiled at him and he returned it. Five minutes later Marcus came down looking fine as hell, he looks so good in a suit like he was born to wear it and he kind of was.

He came and sat down beside me and didn't utter a single word which was strange because he always finds something to talk with me about and I always ignore him but now, nothing.

"Can you drop me off at work today, my car is at the mechanics "

"Okay" one word, he has said one word to me all day and it's okay, freaking okay.

On the whole way, we didn't speak to each other. It was frustrating, why the hell was he giving me the silent treatment.

For the rest of the day, I worked and helped Sophia plan Katelyn's baby shower but even though I was busy Marcus still found his way into my mind.

I can literally hear you guys screaming at me for dropping the Marcus and Octavia kiss but I have  big plans☺
